Can the W222 7 color ambient lighting be upgraded to 64 colors?

Can the W222 7 color ambient lighting be upgraded to 64 colors?
I'm wanting to upgrade the 7 interior ambient lighting colors from 7 to 64.
Is it possible with a flash? And has anyone done it?

Yes, you can upgrade, but that requires hardware changes. Check previous posts on subject in this forum.

Let's clarify. On a PRE-facelift W222 (NTG 5.2, 2014-2017), you're stuck with 7 colors. The LEDs themselves are not capable of much. On a POST-FL you can have 64 colors.

I thought it was just the module that wasn't capable of controlling the LED's like what's in the newer cars, not the LED's themselves. I could be wrong, but probably will never find out for sure one way or the other.

The LED's are RGB, it's controlled via software in the module, post 2017 RGB color mixing was standard from the factory, I'm fairly certain BenzNinja knows how to update the firmware of the controller module to do this. Now if he could only ADD LED's to the round air vents via software wouldn't that be sweet.
