side by side of sport vs non-sport package

Maybe a better question is what is the difference? I understand the wheels are different but I'm trying to identify the other changes. Is there anything mechanical or just extra chrome and fender flares? Thanks!

Just keep in mind, in person [3D world : )], the differences are much more apparent. The AMG wins for sure in my opinion, especially for the pre-facelift, the non-AMG body styling looks very basic and dull.

The AMG package has a huge impact on how the car looks
it almost looks like a different car.

Even the pre FL, the difference in the front and rear is huge...the front chin is so much more distinct in the AMG car

I actually feel the opposite. For post facelift, the standard body styling is still elegant, and for the rear, the AMG styling for post facelift really adds nothing significant even the exhaust tips are stupid tiny dull looking. For pre-facelift, that's where the AMG body styling shines the most or brings more aggressive elements above the standard body styling.

The rear of the PFL the shape of the lower bumper makes a huge difference.

look for a true AMG or aggressive style.

When I was shopping the AMG package was a no-brainer and I only looked at cars that had this feature. My neighbor bought a 2015 S550 a few months ago and my wife said "this isn't like your car" and my wife is shall we say not a car girl. Does it really make a difference in looks, hell yes, but functionally not a whole lot.
Pre-face lift which I didn't even know about 4 years ago (thanks to 4 years of ownership and this forum I know much more) but I had a chance to get a non-AMG that had a few more interior pieces I am lacking and didn't even consider it.

Nope! not on the PFL if you really mean "huge difference" for rear bimper specifically. Front? Yes, but not the rear. The rear on the PFL is silly and dull and has nothing to do with a true AMG look. Majority of folks won't even have brain memory to remember what the difference is. It's only for the pre-FL when the differences were more significant, not PFL. As a PFL owner, I can even barely find any option to upgrade my exhaust tips to. PFL AMG vs standard look is below; there is just NO WAY I call this as something that makes HUGE difference. I almost feel the exhaust tips and chrome are even the same with the only difference is the black area just slightly slightly extended.

When a wife who is about as interested in car designs as she is in my bourbon selection (not) sees the differences clearly it says something. I looked at the loss I took from the non-AMG car which I didn't like the color that had heated arm rests and steering wheel (I live in Cali so not such a huge feature) I am glad I have my AMG look and love the wheels too!

Agree. We are on our 3rd AMG S Class, (2005, 2010, 2015) and would not even consider one without it. Also, this is our 3rd with either ABC or Magic Body Control (on our 2015), and would not consider one without it. Just our "Two Cents". When we get a "loaner", during service, the suspension system is a joke, by comparison. Cheers.

Personally, the only thing I'm missing from (real) AMG cars is the side-badges (installed my own, like another forum member here did; fills a void in the appearance) and the quad exhausts (I won't bother with those). I can't tell much of a difference in the sides or the rear on AMG-line cars, and the front bumper to me looks different, not necessarily better or worse. The facelift steering wheel is decent though the AMG one looks better, but still, that wouldn't be a reason to reject a used car or pay extra to get it on a new one.
When buying used (99.9% of the time), I usually don't consider visual packages a criterion; even Magic Sky has a higher priority on my list. Wheels are kind of an exception here, since AMG-line cars usually come with nicer wheels and that might tilt the scale to the other side.
