CORRECT WHEEL WEIGHTS

Notice that my replacement wheels were fitted with standard wheel weights with adhesive backing.

Why then does Mercedes specify the clamp on design?>.

I have never seen a clamp-on weight on a new Mercedes car.

This place is a joke.
I haven't seen clip on wheel weights on a Mercedes since about 2002. This is for US based cars of course. European models have more base versions like taxis that use different wheels.

I always thought Standard wheel weights were the ones that hammered onto wheel lip next to the tire.
Used on steel wheels and CHEAP wheels with room for weights.

The fancy ones were the double-sided tape flat stick-on type.
For expensive wheels and/or vehicles.
And for offroad vehicles with Bead lock type wheels.

Is there a third?

My last one with clip-on weights was a 1975 450SLC with steel wheels. All that I've had starting in the '80s with alloy wheels used the stick-on weights.

The last MB to use them was either the 220 S-Class or 210 E-class (1996-2006) which had these fancy silver painted 2-piece clip on wheel weights, so you could consider that a 3rd style.
