Wow that's a day and night change haha! That thing is a tank! I see them around my parts and they're beasts. Have any mods planned? Can they be modded??

I've made a very similar switch in the past, lol. Switch from my former W222 to 7-seater 3-row Lincoln Navigator!.. I missed the W222 a lot though I enjoyed the Navigator, I am back to the W222 arena with a facelift W222 now after going through ~4-5 different toys since my last W222. They were all great, but I've always missed the W222. Luckily my wife drives an SUV now, so I don't miss the need for more space if I ever needed for nay trip or task.

There are not a lot of mods for Raptors (just like the S, and a good thing for my wallet!). It’s limited to suspension stuff and lighting on the Raptor. I am just doing PPF and ceramic coating and LEAVING IT AS IS.
I'm a gearhead and frankly... the car is not appealing to other gearheads. Never once got a "nice car" or thumbs up from anyone other than another S driver.
Hey Cyrus! Sorry to see you go. Have always enjoyed reading your posts. Don't be a stranger. And I love your new wheels!
True story: On Monday while at a stoplight in town I actually got a "nice ride" compliment from a twenty-year-old in a Hellcat next to me. No joke.
I'm assuming that the sound of my tune through the sport exhaust with its valves fully-opened only helped.
This forum was a huge part of why I enjoyed the ownership as much as I did. So cheers to you all.

My first S550 had 20" wheels and sport Suspension. It had a rough ride. My 2020 S560 has 19" wheels with Fantastic Continental tires and the Magic Body Control. Much smoother. Especially on rougher roads. I would never get another S class without the magic body control or with low profile tires.
2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...

Well my friend, I believe you and I are kindred spirits when it comes to ride quality. That said, since Magic Body Control has gone the way of the Dodo bird, what are you going to do? Keep your current S Class forever? I have a 2022 S580 with EABC, the MBC replacement, and the ride quality is HORRIBLE compared to the three MBC equipped W222’s I had and that’s with 19” wheels & Continental non-RFT as well on the new car. MBC was an absolutely wonderful suspension, so of course, MB found it necessary to “fix” it. Hopefully, with the 2025 face lift, they will address the EABC ride quality issue, IF they can.
pretty funny, I just went the other way from a TRX to the 2019 S63. I find the ride very comfortable and way easier to park compared to a Raptor or TRX!

I can definitely understand easier to park, but I am surprised the S63 rides more comfortable than a TRX! I’ve never driven one but I heard they are pretty comfortable compared to a traditional Ram.
The Raptor is a beast to park - that’s for sure - but the ride is fantastic.
When you describe "ride", what you describe is important. If you mean just isolation from road irregularities, then yeah Raptors ride incredibly well, as do all Pickups and body on frame SUVs...and they do "ride" better than something like an S Class.
BUT...you lose the incredible high speed stability and the ride and handling balance which is a big tradeoff, they also are exponentially louder at speed because of the much lower aerodynamics and louder tires. For instance I just got back from a 350 mile each way trip to WV. The S Class delivered incredible ride and handling on the highway at 80-100 MPH with zero road noise and very little wind noise, I could effortlessly give throttle and get from 80-100 to pass and merge in around traffic with no stress, when I got off the highway I had an extremely satisfying car to drive on twisty back mountain roads in Sport mode. That duality is possible with a car like the S Class, but its not really with a pickup or body on frame SUV.
Sure you have a great ride on the highway, but you're 5-7 dB louder at 80+ MPH, you don't have that same confidence at high speeds, and you don't have that effortless ability to move around traffic. You also don't have a vehicle that also is rewarding to drive on a curvy mountain road.
BUT, you can go anywhere you want and carry all kinds of stuff, and they look awesome, so its a tradeoff.
Plus, S Classes are everywhere and Raptors hold value like crazy, so if you decide you don't like it you can always come back.
I had an F150 Lightning and it was easily one of the best riding trucks due to the weight and independent suspension. Haven’t tried a RAM 1500 on air, though.
Having driven the W222 on the same road trips I can make some comparisons. The truck had highway tires, the S had runflats on larger wheels.
Lightning: better isolation over deep impacts (less impact felt, less noise). Running over curbs, cyclists, pedestrians: just a gentle undulation into the cabin. Surprisingly good handling at 80-90 mph cruise.
S-Class: far, far less wind noise. Better isolation over everything but deep impacts. NVH felt better figured out. MB just works so much harder at that. Seat comfort far superior.
The truck was exceptionally comfy, but an S-Class is one of the most comfortable cars ever made.

Did you have any issues or complaints with the TRX? Do you have any regrets on making the move?

I would say this is extremely accurate.
The W222 is much more isolated from noise. NVH in general is very low. It handles small bumps extremely well - you feel them, but they do not bother you.
The Raptor has moderate NVH - it does not feel like a high-end luxury automobile. Small bumps are felt but handled very well - like the W222 (and many other cars) - in large part due to its 4-wheel coil suspension. For those who don't know, the rear suspension is what differentiates a raptor from other F150s. It is drastically different and the reason they ride so well. Big bumps/potholes that were jarring in the W222 are nothing to this monster truck. I no longer dodge manhole covers. Noise at highway speed is "normal" and far from the quietness of the W222. My seats are extremely comfortable but they are the upgraded Recaros.
My last truck was a 2013 Toyota Tundra Crew Cab that I purchased new. It was a great truck but noisy AF. I spent around 300 bucks on Dynamat and ripped apart most of the interior including door cards and put that stuff everywhere. Made the truck vault like quiet but added around 150lbs. The only area I did not do was the firewall as I was not about to remove the dash, did everything else though including the roof. I just did it one area at a time and it was pretty easy to do. That is what i would do if I went from an S class to a TRX. My next truck will probably be an F250 Diesel Crew Cab and that is what I plan on doing to address the noise.

A big part of that ride is also the extremely large aspect ratio tires and small wheels that come on a Raptor…if you replace the wheels with larger wheels you will feel a big difference in the ride.
I had a new Suburban for a week in Orlando and LOVED it on the highway. Just a phenomenal vehicle for transporting a family on a trip. Around town and in parking lots and all though, trying to get it into the garage, not so much. If I lived out in a place where I had a lot of wide open space around me I would have come straight home and traded the Pacifica on a Suburban. Big trucks have their appeal for sure.
Too funny, my 2018 S63 is the most comfortable car I have ever driven, and my wife and friends think the same. To each his own. And my car is on the largest wheels. Best wishes.

It is still an S-Class despite being an AMG so comfort is important, but lots of forum members here complain about S 63 being stiff but then it is an AMG at the end of the day so
Do you have run-flats? What is the tire pressure like?
No idea, I doubt I have run flats for sure. I drove to Newport RI this past weekend, 475 miles and the dealership mistakenly put my wheel pressures up to 57. It rode OK, not great, for 400 miles, we didn't even know why... when I put them back to 44 the car was like heaven. HEAVEN.

no way, 57???? that is way too high, I think the tire maximum pressure is rated at 50 by the manufacturer of the tires? so they shouldn't have been going above that and MB usually calls for 38 to 45 on the S 63 but I can't remember exactly (check your gas fuel cap).
I keep forgetting that all the S-Classes have RF tires too. Haven’t tried one on normal tires yet.
We have a 2010 W221 with 19" Non-RF tires and it rides beautifully. I'm worried about the switch to a W222 with 19" or 20" RF tires... We are shopping though and will pull the trigger soon. Hope the ride difference doesn't make us regret it.

We've been driving an s class ('12 and '18) and to my knowledge have never had RF tires on either car. Never even thought about having a ride problem.
It's very difficult for me to even grasp what all the folks are talking about - ride, road noise, etc. Simply has never been an issue.

There are suspension improvements in the newer generation I believe. Honestly though, you can always buy non-RFT tire post purchase.
