Farewall W222...

When I bought my W222 I noticed a HUGE difference with road noise and ride comfort by sticking with standard run flats. While I wish they had a little more road hug, I can forego that for the ride quality and noise (even with run flats). My challenge now is that I’d prefer to have multisppke AMG rims - thjs wasn’t a factory option unless you get the large tires. However; I’ve seen some afternarket manufacturers that may offer an option - we will see.
I will agree on the stealth. No glances or thumbs up on a $130k car. SMH. I did get more of that with my prior W221 - it was beautiful black or black with oversized rims - that car caught a few glances. That part really doesn’t bother me, I don’t need attention. The part that I need is one you mentioned -whether you enjoy driving the vehicle. For me, I hope to always be able to afford an S-Class. I’m spoiled by the quality and features.
1. The car was not nearly as comfortable as I thought it would be. I am sure this was largely due to the 20" wheels; if I ever buy an S again, it will be with a thicker tire profile. I had been through three different sets of non-RF tires and while they had improvements, they did not make the car comfortable. Big bumps were jarring.
2. Despite being a Sonderklasse I just didn't feel special driving it. I'm a gearhead and frankly... the car is not appealing to other gearheads. Never once got a "nice car" or thumbs up from anyone other than another S driver. That is perhaps the beauty of the S, its stealthiness. But not for me.
I will say it was extremely reliable in my time, and the interior was wonderful.
I moved on to a 2023 Ford Raptor... quite a change, yes, but still a big emphasis on comfort.
This forum was a huge part of why I enjoyed the ownership as much as I did. So cheers to you all.

A lot of it depends on where you live, but the OP and I live very close to each other! Maybe its color?
