Well the time finally came for me to let go of the W222. While I was initially enamored with the car, it faded very quickly (quicker than most cars, strangely enough). There were 2 main reasons for that.
1. The car was not nearly as comfortable as I thought it would be. I am sure this was largely due to the 20" wheels; if I ever buy an S again, it will be with a thicker tire profile. I had been through three different sets of non-RF tires and while they had improvements, they did not make the car comfortable. Big bumps were jarring.
2. Despite being a Sonderklasse I just didn't feel special driving it. I'm a gearhead and frankly... the car is not appealing to other gearheads. Never once got a "nice car" or thumbs up from anyone other than another S driver. That is perhaps the beauty of the S, its stealthiness. But not for me.
I will say it was extremely reliable in my time, and the interior was wonderful.
I moved on to a 2023 Ford Raptor... quite a change, yes, but still a big emphasis on comfort.
This forum was a huge part of why I enjoyed the ownership as much as I did. So cheers to you all.
Just a comment about comfort: I had a pre-facelift W222 with 20" wheels and RF tires, and currently when I switched to the Facelift S560 I made sure to get the 19" AMG wheels instead of 20", and then also equipped it with with non-RF Continental Extreme Contact™ DWS06 Plus, and the drive comfort difference is HUGE.
I hope u will enjoy your Ford F150. I had the same engine in my Lincoln Navigator. I still remember when I posted a similar post here about switching from my W222 to the Lincoln Navigator I bought at that time. People told me it will not be too long before I switch back again... They were all right, I denied the S-class, kept the Navigator, then tried 7-series, then BMW 5-series, then tried BMW X7 and X5.... after 3-4 years of enjoying several toys, am back with the W222 again now and can tell that it beats all those former vehicles hands down. Forum members were right, it did not take long until I came back to the W222. Am sure you will enjoy the F150, but if you didn't like the comfort in the W222, i hardly doubt any other vehicle will please u. Good looking F150, best of luck and please enjoy your new drive.

Great choice! Cream of the crop. Hunt me down when ever you trade it.
18 or 19 inch wheel make difference than 20s. It’s hard to like another car after s-class but I get it. If I drop my s550, I am also getting a truck perhaps a RAM 1500 with air ride.
beautiful truck and enjoy it. Good luck
I have the same car as yours, except mine is MY 2017. I get the opposite response from people. Even here in Seattle, where there are TONS of luxury cars all over the place, I get complements at least weekly, and sometimes daily. Really enjoyed your post on the forum and hope you enjoy your truck!
Sorry to see you were not delighted with the S Class . You could change the wheels or try MO tires anyway you bought a different vehicle .
Nice choice, it's the only Ford product I would probably enjoy to drive
Happy Driving
I was a little surprised at how potholes and expansion joints upset the S-Class. I had an F150 Lightning until recently and it’s amazing how the body on frame design can insulate from awful terrain. Wind noise though was just bad at 75+. Actually even lower too. It was like a switch flipped at 55 mph to turn on the noise.
That's quite a change - going from a 4 door luxury sedan to a pick up truck.
I also have a pick up truck (Toyota Tundra) for truck things like hauling building materials, plants, anything messy that I don't want to get in my S Class. But the truck wouldn't satisfy me as my only vehicle.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. Enjoy your new truck!
Donny if I'm being honest, the truck is praised most for its ride (due to that awesome coil-spring rear) but there is so much more to it... the steering, the power, the handling. It really feels like you are driving a mid-size car. And the exhaust.. man is it fun!
I love the comfort level of my 2015 S550 4Matic. It's my opinion from test driving the newer model S Class or any other Class for that matter... Mercedes is getting cheaper and cheaper with the comfort of their seating.
VERY nice truck!, You are not alone in your interest in Ford. I have really been considering getting a Bronco Raptor.
We have a 2022 F150 STX extended cab with the longer bed. Very nice ride with 20" wheels and comes standard with dual pane side windows so it is very quiet inside. It will be hard not to want another MB in the future. Maybe a convertible next time

I stay surrounded by 4x4s in my country. Every brand and configuration you can dream up. The Gen 3 Raptor brings universal praise as you have discovered.
Also the preferred truck by border traffickers and smugglers. Be careful…..Fords are one easy truck to steal.

Do you have special colour? The S-Class is certainly pretty understated which is not a bad thing I think.
I get a steady stream of compliments, and for two reasons: It's a damned good-looking car, and it's a rare color - Emerald Green Metallic, but only in bright sunlight. I love it.
Oh, yeah - it's completely stock. I would never make any changes in its appearance. And, to be honest, for the life of me, don't understand why so much of this is done.

My 17 is the same color and wheel combinatin as the OP's car. Mine is newer but they look practically identical. I just bought it late last year, and the paint is amazing, like a brand new car. It must have been garaged by the previous owner or something. Or it was expertly detailed before I saw it. I'm going to buy the takeoff spoiler from CFMistry since he has no use for it anymore. After that, I'll post pictures of my car.

I see, glad to hear you got perfect paint though and yes do share pictures once you got it done.
