I see, were you able to test an airmatic car vs MBC vs ? (was it active body control) forgot the other name on the W222 on similar wheel and tire setup before you purchased yours? If so, how do you find them all?

No, MBC is basically unavailable here since it’s not compatible with AWD. Mine rides so well I’m not even worried about it.

I see but what is the standard suspension called and that other suspension called, I can't remember up the top of my head (if there is one).

There are only two suspension options for the W222. The base suspension is Airmatic. The upgraded suspension is Magic Body Control (MBC) which in only available on RWD cars.

I see thanks for clarifying it.

2016 S550 4MATIC (W222), 2012 GLK350 (X204), 2008 CLK350 cabriolet (A209), 2011 E350 (W212)
I had a W221 with Sport Plus One package - 20” low profile tires. It looked great, but the tires were noisy (even with Michelin) and the ride quality suffered.

When I bought my W222 I noticed a HUGE difference with road noise and ride comfort by sticking with standard run flats. While I wish they had a little more road hug, I can forego that for the ride quality and noise (even with run flats). My challenge now is that I’d prefer to have multisppke AMG rims - thjs wasn’t a factory option unless you get the large tires. However; I’ve seen some afternarket manufacturers that may offer an option - we will see.

I will agree on the stealth. No glances or thumbs up on a $130k car. SMH. I did get more of that with my prior W221 - it was beautiful black or black with oversized rims - that car caught a few glances. That part really doesn’t bother me, I don’t need attention. The part that I need is one you mentioned -whether you enjoy driving the vehicle. For me, I hope to always be able to afford an S-Class. I’m spoiled by the quality and features.

1. The car was not nearly as comfortable as I thought it would be. I am sure this was largely due to the 20" wheels; if I ever buy an S again, it will be with a thicker tire profile. I had been through three different sets of non-RF tires and while they had improvements, they did not make the car comfortable. Big bumps were jarring.

2. Despite being a Sonderklasse I just didn't feel special driving it. I'm a gearhead and frankly... the car is not appealing to other gearheads. Never once got a "nice car" or thumbs up from anyone other than another S driver. That is perhaps the beauty of the S, its stealthiness. But not for me.

I will say it was extremely reliable in my time, and the interior was wonderful.

I moved on to a 2023 Ford Raptor... quite a change, yes, but still a big emphasis on comfort.
This forum was a huge part of why I enjoyed the ownership as much as I did. So cheers to you all.

I get more attention in my car than I would like. I get comments from friends and family, and the errant comment from a stranger. Just last week we had a exec offsite at one of my colleagues homes and her husband went on and on about the beautiful white Mercedes outside. Driving back from WV somebody stopped me at a rest stop and complimented the car.

A lot of it depends on where you live, but the OP and I live very close to each other! Maybe its color?
