Opinions on Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 Tires

I just purchased a CPO 2019 S65 AMG Sedan. The car came equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tires front and rear. The rear tires are relatively new with manufacture dates of 4221 and 0622. The front tires have manufacture dates of 3018 so they're about 5 years old. At any rate, the ride is a little stiffer than what I'd like. I'm sure part of the issue is the 5 year old front tires. I'm sure they're stiffer than they were when new. I live in NWPA and it snows a lot where I live. The Pilot Sport 3 tires are summer tires. I was thinking about replacing them with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires which are supposed to be high performance all season tires. I'm looing for opinions on the Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. Any comments on ride quality versus the Pilot Sport 3 tires? Any comments on their performance in the snow? Thanks in advance for any opinions that may be offered.

I’m enjoying the Pilot Sport 4 flavor here in Phoenix. Not any opportunity to try them in snow here but they are quiet with plenty grip and are unfazed in rain. They ride much nicer then what was on the car previously. Rear tires will last maybe 15,000. Fronts longer. I’m a bit of a savage who never paints stripe. I have never parked this car in the garage and been treated to the scent of burning tires that happened often using Continental DWS 06 on the 221 S65.

I just put a set on my S560. Much better than the run flats they replaced. Interestingly, the cheapest price in town was at my MB dealer. They even beat Costco. The only noise I noticed was on rough surface roads. On smooth roads they’re quiet. They perform well and inspire confidence in both wet and dry conditions.

they are the greatest tire on the market right now for what you need in a tire. All seasons are less noisy than their summer counterparts because summer tires have wider tread blocks. Those tires being 5 years old and needing to be replaced is a general safety guideline, the tires start hardening long before that depending on their heat cycles and how they were stored. Cars parked inside, which I can bet yours was have longer lives. I'd just shoot for em and you'll love them on the first drive out of the lot.

I ditched my run flats for Pilot Sport 4 S

Hello,

I got so fed up of the harsh / hard ride on my OEM 20" Run Flats that I took the risk (after much help from forum members here) and installed a full set of non run flat Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres. I have done about 6k miles in them and they are quiet, smooth and brought my ride back into the old refined S350 I had. I thoroughly recommend them. I did buy a good tyre inflator and tyre puncture kit just in case.

'94 SL600,'05 SL600,'06 S65,'07 E63,'14 E63S,'09SL600 all sold, ‘15 S65,‘18 E63S,'17 SL65, '17S65Cab
The standard tires on an S65 are non-run flats with a (Y) speed rating and are extra load rated. There are not a lot of all season tires that can be used on a S65. My S65 came with Conti 5P's, they were ok. I replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. These are better in every way. The PS4S tires are also "stickier" and eliminated the constant intervention of traction control I had with the Conti5P's.
I have heard good reports on the all season version 4 of the Michelin tires but living near the beach in SoCal have no reason to use them. If they are as good as the PS4S tires you will like them.
Do not run less than 40PSI in the front tires of an S65 unless you like mushy, understeering handling with a 10k mile front tire life. I keep 42 to 44PSI front in mine, with 36psi rear. There is minimal to no harshness increase at that pressure. Tires last 20k miles front and rear. For kicks I tried the 50/51PSI required for sustained speeds above 155mph. The harshness was so bad at 50PSI, I considered the car undrivable.

I have a different car but have been using PS4's for several years now and am on my 3rd set. It's a great tire. I also highly recommend Discount Tire if you have one available to you.

the greatest automotive big box store I've ever done business with.

I'm a DWS06+ guy but thats only for the treadwear. They're a bit louder.

I have heard nothing but great comments on Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Series as well . I have Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires on my W212 and I don't think I would be over exaggerating if I say it's the best tire I have ever used . From road noise to comfort , it just delivers the best combo .

I have PS4 run flats on my '16 coupe. So far they've been great both noise, wear and handling and better than the Goodyear OEMs.
