Lock/Unlock exterior door handle not working
Just got a CPO 2020 S560. I have much experience with these door handles, which have always worked flawlessly. About half of the time, when I grab the handle of the locked door, nothing happens. About half the time, as I slide the back of my hand over the door handle to lock the car, nothing happens. The other half of the time, the locking/unlocking works as it should. I can always lock or unlock with the key fob, which works perfectly. I will bring it into the dealer, but thought I might ask here if anyone knows what the problem might be. It does the same thing with all four doors. There must be some sort of module that the hand action triggers, right?

I recently saw a video of this issue that was resolved with a “certain double click” of the key fob. I’ll see if I can dredge it up and forward.

One article mentioned a small magnet that is contained in the door handle which when missing or defective can lead to problems and the diagnostic codes only mention a hall-effect malfunction that does not lead to a solution but only to a partial and unnecessary disassembly of the door.

And there’s this:
UPDATE: Fixed it without going into the dealership. 1) Deactivate key fob (do so by rapidly pushing lock button on key fob twice). Note: must be away from car when deactivating key fob. 2) Re-activate by going to car and locking/unlocking car using the key fob lock/unlock buttons. 3) Test by touching handle for keyless entry or by using push button start. Worked like a charm for me.
Note: had to do the deactivate/re-activate sequence for each key fob.

Question also; don't mean to thread jack. But, When my car is running, I am unable to lock the car with the use of my key fob. Any idea why that it is?

Alternatively, you can use the metal key to lock it but I think the newer models actually also prevented that from happening as well.
