One reason that my next car regardless of the type will likely be white or anything similar to silver palladium… I want to take my car to carwashes. By the way, even with full PPF, it would still develop swirl marks that shows up in dark paint, that u later need to remove by parking in the sun or washing with direct hot water, so even with full PPF, i still don’t take my daily drive car to car washed (or I wouldn’t). My other cars are either grey-ish and white, and they all go the car washes just fine with little damage that can be seen from short distance. The Carbon-black X7 had a lot of scratches from the previous owner so I let that one pass through car washes as it is already far from show room condition (paint condition wise). My daily-drive is always in show-room zero-scratches and full ppf, and because it is dark I still can’t take it to car washed hence the PPF was the best compromise along with hand-washing. Sometimes it’s a hassle (am just realizing that as winter is about to hit).
So actually, PPF almost completely resists carwash swirl marks as long as its self healing. Its actually pretty incredible. I have PPF on my front clip, and on the piano black B pillars and even with a bright LED light there are no swirls on the PPF, on the paint there are definately swirls on the sides of the doors, Just with the white you can't see them unless you are looking for them.
You guys have made me feel better about my white car. In addition to that; since I had it detailed a few days ago I've noticed the long stares from people on the road and on the street. It really looks nice in person, even better now that it's clean. I guess we'll have to see how things go after a few months or years of ownership. The first W222 I test drove was Palladium Silver and it was beautiful! It was at a used car lot and a car that obviously hadn't been taken care of all that well, so I passed. Bought my 17 Selenite Grey and loved every moment of looking at that car inside and out. Shame I couldn't find the same color combination in an S63, with the equipment I wanted. Almost bought a blue S63 from Texas, but couldn't arrange a PPI before it sold. It was also at a used car lot, so I wasn't too high on it. I prefer a franchise lot, or one that specilizes in high-end luxurly cars.
Vin, thanks for starting this post, I was wondering what color preferences other people had.
Emerald Green is an awesome color. I'd much rather have that its just too much work for me to keep it as nice as I would want it kept, and when I got mine right at the end of the 222 run I basically could have white or black because thats all that was available.

Well,, it's (perceived) needs must. i approach car ownership very simplistically - if it's dirty, take it to the car wash. Period. After six years of garaged ownership, I get huge numbers of compliments, and I think it looks perfect.

To me it wouldn’t look perfect. I would see the marks and the swirls and the scratches and the drips and water spots etc that using a carwash causes. Our other car is darker colored and I know how it looks, that car is just a family minivan and I don’t really care what it looks like.
There has been a dark blue S580 at my dealer I have had my eye on. It became a demo for the dealer GM and I pulled up next to it and parked when I was in for service, and now that it’s being driven and washed etc I immediately noticed all the swirls and drips and all…just wouldn’t work for me.
I also am very busy at this stage of my life, I have a lot of work demands and a young family that demands a lot of time and energy and I just don’t have the energy to devote to washing cars myself etc. I used to drive cars with awesome dark colors but I washed them myself etc. Maybe when my life slows down I can get something that needs more maintenance like that again.
“When my life slows down” he says.... Young family says you are busy busy busy at least 20 years into the future. Once kids are self sustaining you are still busy busy with everything else + family commitments. You are blessed with such issues friend. I've only very seldom ever noticed anything after a car wash that bothered me - like maybe some bugs on the grill. I take it back through.
In my 10th decade of life I have all the time in the world, am not physically able any longer to wash my own cars, have no children around who are available, and don't mind spending $10 to run the car through the wash. In fact, it gives me something to do. In other words, DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS, and no one should try to push his opinions on those whose needs and circumstances are different.
AND MY S560 LOOKS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT FOR MY WIFE AND MYSELF.

This is the truth! It’s all about perspective, not complaining at all.

Why are you yelling? Nobody is pushing their opinions on anybody else. We’re just talking.
No automatic carwash delivers a perfect car, and they all scratch cars. That’s why I get light colors because that doesn’t stick out to me as much on a light color. That doesn’t bother you and it does bother me. I’m not trying to tell you it should bother you…
Dropped some Clay bar and wax on my 2014 S550 , 27,000 miles. It Was sitting for awhile from the looks of it, showed it some love today.
Yes. Looks great! Maybe it's just the angle but the offset of these aftermarket wheels don't look right. They are too far inset. Easily fixed with spacers. Also a bit small. What are the wheel and tire dimensions?

Yes wolfman you are right! The Vossen CV10s where a perfect fit for my C300 i had before this. I had to order new all season for my OEMs i am still waiting on, Costco order the wrong tires twice on me. They do have spacers for the front , non need for rear. It's 20x8 in front and 20x10 in rear, i will not be putting these on my car again, the ride is terrible with these Low profiles.
