2018 windshield replacement

Hi all,

I’ve spent so many hours trying to figure this out but I couldn’t. So I thought I would ask here.

My windshield is cracked but I don’t know which one to get due to the options of active body control.
how do I know if I have this?

my vin is WDDUG6GB0JA353945 2018 s450Also, does s560 windshield work for s450? I’m looking for oem replacement and there are so many websites and options.

Can someone please point me to the right direction?

Will the dealer match the selling price online and charge labor on installing?

Thank you!
Nate

If it's a W222 chassis ANY windshield from any other W222 will work.
Options wise most windshields are set up for all options, whatever options not are utilized left dormant.

Get OEM installed by Mercedes

I had to replace the windshield on my 2018 S560 this spring. There were 6 specific OEM windshields for S Class dependent upon your VIN. I had mine replaced by a Mercedes dealership. Total cost installed $4,354.16 100% paid for by my auto insurance. My Mercedes part number for my windshield was 222-670-77-00. You will probably need to have several long discussions with your insurance company. Your insurance will want you to use a Safelite-made windshield. I initially tried to work with Safelite but there was always a new problem. Took a little longer, but I am completely satisfied I made the correct decision getting OEM glass installed at the Mercedes dealership.

When we replaced the windshield in our W212, we had to go round-and-round with insurance in order to get them to authorize replacement at the dealer - but because of the safety systems involved, they finally relented and paid for a factory replacement. We don't regret pushing back either.

I had mine done a few months ago, and I called my insurance and told them that I wanted OEM glass and they agreed that I could take it to the dealer. It cost me my deductible

Similar experiences for me. I've done windshields through the dealership on W212 and W166, and each time there were multiple glass options. They used my VIN to narrow it down. I haven't done a W222 windshield yet, but I'm not surprised that there would be multiple glass options, for at least these variables:

597 Heated Windshield
463 Head-Up Display
997 Driver Assistance Pkg (adds stereo cameras)
487 Magic Body Control (uses the stereo cameras)

And I echo what others have said about their auto insurance. I have to push back every time, in order for them to finally relent and pay for the full OEM glass plus dealership installation. Their first offer is always aftermarket glass done by some local glass shop.

Good luck!

Do it through a body shop and let them make sure to get the right part. Doing it through a body shop also makes it much easier to get the OEM replacement approved too.

I had mine replaced on a previous 2015 by Safelite, they contacted a dealer with the vin for the OEM glass. Quick chat with my insurance company and it was approved. No issues.

If your quote was $4,100, what was your deductible? you should have only paid $1,000?

The glass roof on my '16 S550 Coupe shattered. The ins. co. used Safelite to do the actual glass replacement but they did it at the dealership and the dealers technicians did all of the interior removals and re-installations. Perfect job when it was all done.
