Change cabin air filter

Planning to change the cabin air filter and want to be sure I mount the new filters correct regarding the air flow direction (the arrow on the filter).

WIS says they should be mounted as follows:
"Note the mounting position. The arrows on the activated carbon dust filters must point towards the fan motor.
Otherwise, damage may occur."
Where is the fan motor located?

Guessing that they should sit according to 1 (picture)?

Agree with @ebceksl... I just replaced my filters last week, and this matches what I saw.

Incidentally,I always take a photo of the filter placement, BEFORE removing the old ones, to ensure that I'm following suit.

Good luck!

If this helps, there should be holes on the filter itself, if you shine a flashlight inside the filter housing you should see two plastic tip/pins that comes in contact with the filter's holes to secure it in place. That should be a good guideline which side and direction to insert the filter. This is at least true on a W205, I don't see why the W222 will be different since the filter seems to be in the same location.
