Mercedes me ping battery discharge

Just wondering if Mercedes me pinging of the car might be affecting battery charge state. I have minimal options selected, but still …

Yes, the Mercedes me services put a constant drain on the battery, because it maintains an online connection while the car is parked. This is well known by now. Certain models have a standby mode that you can activate for extended parking. The standby mode turns everything off including the car alarm. The latter also puts a drain on the battery. The nice part about it is it tells you how long you can leave the car parked in standby mode with the current state of charge.

Thanks, I have years of experience owning Mercedes but never an S class and have never experienced battery issues. I see you’re a S.F. Bay Area resident, so was I until ‘82. Born in Napa and grew up in Oakland. Now in Atlanta for 40 years, just a poor immigrant from the Golden State. Thanks for the info on Standby Mode, I’ll see if mine has it. I may just disable MB Me and see what happens. Thanks again.

Standby Mode sounds unsafe unless you're willing to risk your car being stolen and not being able to track it, though.

Well, for starters you would only use it while the car is safely parked in your private garage or a car storage. It's meant for longer term storage. But the standby mode also automatically deactivates as soon as the ignition is turned on.

Totally fair point.

Still, I always worry that despite all my security measures, a determined thief will still get the car if they want, and if it's in Standby Mode, I'll lose the ability to track it.
