Anyone with a 2018-2021 with 50K-100K miles

I am getting close to 50K miles on my 2019 and the warranty expires in July. I am curious as to the repair experience of others for the next 50K miles to determine whether to consider an extended warranty. Thanks.

I have a 19 s560, tuned with Renntech.
at 45k miles i changed the trans fluid, diff fluids, tq fluids, spark plugs, a pentiometer for the rear climate control, spark plugs, air filters, etc.
if you do the maintenance your likely hood of a repair bill is small with these cars.
right now i am at 70k miles and the car is just getting broken in.

I would go with Mercedes extended warranty. Saved me a ton of money on past Mercedes. Lots of things to break.

I've saw on several post that most dealers and even some smaller MB Shops claim the trans fluid is a lifetime. I've never believed that, even before all of these gadgets were instituted so that we can't work on our cars without the right tools... I have called several places and my biggest issue is myself and trust. I'd have to see the fluid leave the car and get refilled in order for me to believe it. Any suggestions? My 2019 S560 has 47k on it and I want to get some fluids changed just because they are due at 50k

It's really not the warranty expiring you need to worry about. It's the maintenance schedule. Starting at 50k miles it starts to get expensive with spark plugs. Then at 60K it's the transmission and transfer case service. You won't believe what the dealer wants for these services. Then add the oil change, brakes, tires, wipers etc. and the car gets real expensive real quick. I believe this is why the experienced MB owners get rid of their cars around the 45k mark. With the warranty ending and the maintenance costs climbing it makes sense.

things just don't seem to work out the same for everyone, for obvious reasons. When I bought my '18 S560, i sold my low (?) mileage '12 S450 to my son. He now has 76,000 miles on it, and has never mentioned any major problems. My car is now at about 32,000. I have extended warranty. At my age, unless something inexpressibly expensive happens, I don't expect to buy another S class

Actually, Mercedes recommends regular Transmission Fluid changes in the maintenance manual:

I use this schedule the techs use. It comes from Mercedes and is specific to the W222 S Class. Using the maintenance reminders on the dash align with these intervals. Services A7-A9 and B7-B9 (Depending on other needed services) that show up on the dash include Service 20 at 60K miles (30k for specific transmissions). Service 20 is the Transmission and Transfer case services.

I want to add this chart as well. It explains those maintenance numbers on the dash.

I’m at 70k miles on my 2019, I bought the Mercedes Extended Limited Warranty before I hit 50k, I’m doing 20k+ miles per year. I did plugs at 50k, transmission at 60k, I replaced the brake pads at 70k. FCP Euro for the win on pads and rotors!
Get hold of Jeff Jackson at Mercedes Of Louisville for an ELW, saved me about 20% on everything that I was offered locally.
Between 40k & 70k miles I’ve had one repair that was under warranty, drivers door window switch panel at 46k miles. But other than maintenance I have only have wear parts, tires, brakes, magic vision wipers, new windshield (mostly insurance), wheel repairs and one new wheel.
When I write that down, it all starts to add up!!
I will have had it for two years in April and will have about 75k miles on it by then.

It is sounding like you are not really using the warranty as the money you are spending is for routine maintenance?

Correct, the warranty is peace of mind, it insurance and like insurance you hope that you don’t need it!
Maintenance does start to add up, if you do the miles. I’m at the dealer every six months for a service, and I hope that nothing else comes up!
