S650 question. Is this correct forum?

Looking at a ‘19 S650. Low miles. Is this a bad idea for a daily to work and back? I love the big sedan style from this vintage. Just trying to avoid any obvious pitfalls. I remember there are some engines to avoid. It’s been awhile since I shopped Mercs.

S650 will be big, quiet, comfy with the right engine. Interior materials and finishes are lovely. I never sit in the back seat and don’t need the extra 8” of length that is all aft of the front seats. V12 lasts well. I prefer it to the bent eight.

I daily drive a 222 S65. Love it. AMG car is more sporting.

Great feedback. Thanks. Completely agree with the more sporting AMG 65. That suits me too. However, I am taking more zoom/teams calls from the car and those extra 8 inches with the laptop trays might actually serve me well (Maybach). Funny how we justify stuff. I might get tired of the longer platform and wish for the AMG shorter overhangs.

Really glad to hear the Biturbo V12 is not one to avoid and lasts well. Impressed it wins you over versus the Bentley V8.

Bent eight friend.... AKA V-8. Comparing Mercedes Engines. Bentley is a different animal for different use (abuse in my case).

S65 can also be had with executive rear seating which includes the tables. Be sure to find one with Carbon Ceramic brakes. They last a LONG time and reduce unsprung weight by (guess) 60-80 pounds over iron brakes that wear quickly. Rare but worth the effort to find.

That’s a hard combo to find in the S65…..executive rear seating. In my search, the S65 coupe sure has got a special look to it. Watching videos, hard to believe all the tech that was in use in 2019 on these cars;
* active panoramic sky roof
* Lidar ahead and active body control
* night vision
* lane change assist during distronic cruise

The engine should do just fine, it's a 25 yr old design by now. A few things are ridiculous like the 24 spark plug change and routine coolant changes but reliable it is.
Of course it will eat tires and stress the drive line but the 63 is no poodle either.
