Finally Sold my 2015 S550 but What to Get Next
2015 S550, 67k miles sold for $30K. I work from home and had multiple vehicles so the Mercedes often sat in the garage or just taken out on date night, lol. It was up for sale on Craigslist and FB marketplace for awhile first asking $34K then eventually advertised it for $30K firm since it was due for service and would need tires in the next year. I bought an Escalade before the end of the year so I've just been driving that, but I do want another Mercedes.
My question is, do you guys think the W223 is worth it? I've not heard anyone raving on them and the values seem really low. Quite honestly, I'm thinking about the new AMG GT for something fun to drive, but don't know much about them.

W223 might be more techno stuffs galore but honestly, I dislike the way they look . W222s are more imposing and look what an S Class is supposed to be .
I would recommend you to drive W214 E Class, I know it's a downscale to S Class but definitely love it namely interior is superb

My two Mercedes were a 2016 Maybach and a 18 GTC. I sold the Maybach a couple years ago and still have the GTC. I LOVE The GTC. PS a bit of a tidbit if you get the ceramic brake package (I know its expensive) you will not regret it. There is ZERO brake dust. The Maybach brakes made a mess on the wheels!
Both of the babies.

Frankly - the 223, based solely on what I've read here, unless there would be drastic changes in a face-lifted model, would not be an option. It would be a miracle if I could find a 222 replacement anything like my current S. I guess I'd just let the insurance and the body shop fix it up...An E car is just too small for me, and I'd never be happy with it after driving only an S class for 12 years since 2012.
Well, I'm certainly not going to dwell on it - just hope it doesn't happen.
Wishing you the best as you search for answers.

I saw W223 at dealership a week ago when going to the parts counter for something and the look is better in person but interior (first time really seeing that) I just cannot get with the taped on screens. My cousin's husband is an S-Class dude 100% gets a new one through lease every 2 yeras and he's had his 22' now and just about done with it. He isn't a fan and wished he bought his 19' he's had major issues with it including the door handles not popping out and tons of other stuff.
Lou B. amazing I hope/pray that I am still on the right side of the grass and driving an S-Class when am your age!!!

I had a W223 S500 loaner for a little over 2 months during the winter of 22/23. I got used to the screens, and kind of enjoyed it. My opionion is that car is designed around voice controls. You can do just about anything by saying "Hey Mercedes." Not so nice when you have others in the car, especially kids.
But the door handles were a problem. The door handles are designed to pop out from their flush position whenever you approach the car. So they come out everytime you walk by the car, even when taking the trash out, which happened to me a bunch of times. BUT, they broke, at least one did. We had a particularly cold spell her in Seattle where there was a thin coating of ice on the car, and it was covered by snow. 3 out of 4 door handles stopped working, and one (rear passenger) never came back to life. Luckily the driver's door broke through the ice just fine, and never stopped working. It was a loaner so I didn't care too much. I told them about it but they said they'd check on it when I returned the car. I 100% don't like the pop out door handles. And the dashboard vents always cause a glare on the windshield.

I hope the best for all of us - totally unexpected to have reached this point. Two of us left out of 11 in my generation of our close family. Coping with diminished sight, hearing, and some b\muscular weaknesses, but hanging in there with a walker, or canes, and just added a four-wheel electric scooter for extended normally foot-traveled distances.
But, it's great seeing all the bright flowers, shrubs and trees here in the Ohio River Valley, and watching someone else mow the lawn!
My favorite avocation over the past three decades has been shooting at sporting clays and driven birds, during which I introduced some dozen new shooters over three generations to the experience, after beginning myself at age 60. Now, I ride along keeping the clay shooters' scores, telling them what they did wrong on a miss. All best -

I'm very close to a deal on a new S580.
The cars are very similar, the S580 is quieter, rides a little better on bigger wheels and runflats. The interior design and some quality choices are not as nice as the 222 IMO, but once you get used to it there are upsides also. The exterior is more modern, the 222 is starting to look a little dated.
For me, my S560 is a lease with 6 months left, and I consider buying it and keeping it but knowing myself another year or so and I will want a new car. It really doesn't make sense to buy it out and take the downside depreciation risk for only a year, makes more sense to just get into something new now. I have heavily considered the new 7 Series, and I actually really love that car...but something about the S Class just draws me in to where I think in the 7 I would miss the three pointed star on the hood...

Saw a brand new 7 on the road last week and man it was sort of ugly the front, interior from seeing it on website looks very lux. I suspect that we'll not see a return to the W222 type of design anytime soon, I was looking at several other higher end SUV's and they all have the same iPad in the middle and the what looks to me as a tacked on instrumentation in the middle. Just hate that, remind me too much of my brothers Tesla 3 which feels cheap as crap to me.

Interesting...did you get a 4 year lease on your current car? If so, that's nice to have kept it so long. Are you getting a 2024 MY or 2023 MY S580? I know most of the 2021-2022 S-classes came without heated seats because of the worldwide chip shortage, but that's since been remedied. Post pics before you leave the us.
I figure 36 month lease we will be in 2027 and the refresh S will be a year in and easier to deal on,
My only concern is whether or not I will have problems with the new car because my 560 has been great.

It's hard to find the next car after the W222, but if you've already owned one, then it's time to move (especially now that there is a newer generation). I went the route of getting a large SUV for my daily-drive after my first W222, and went back to a facelift W222 again later. Getting another W222 again felt good but honestly it was a boring experience despite how good the car was, like very boring that it felt the same exact car because it really is for the most part (after-all it's a facelift). It wasn't too long before I sold it (only cause I wanted something else and felt bored with it really, it was a good car). So if you had your first W222 for too long already, I'd certainly look for something else if you like cars nowadays. If budget isn't an issue, I will 100% go with W223 instead of a W222 facelift. Personally, It just makes no-sense to me to buy a W222 facelift now if you can afford the W223. Despite everything being said on the internet, the W223 is a much more pleasant car to drive around, more quite, well insulated, still look classy, and the technology which is the main problem I had with W222 in it's last year is much better in the W223. If budget can go even higher, I'd go with the Bentley Flying Spur.
Personally I have no more interest to rush into any ICE car now, as there is just not a single well-rounded ICE car or EV German car (which is my preference) that I can refer to as flawless nowadays from the 2023-2024 model years. I still have a few ICE cars that I love in my garage. If I have to buy a new large-sedan luxury sedan now, the options are limited to the i7, W223, W223 PHEV. I will likely go with a W223 PHEV or W223 V8, but prefer to wait for the facelift as I can wait and so happy daily-driving an EV along with the other nice ICE cars I have in my garage to mix things up as needed. There is nothing that is so enticing nowadays from the 2023-2024 gen that pushes me to pull the trigger tomorrow. The only one was an EV and am glad I made that choice for now. Maybe hang in around with a Plaid (S or X) if you like, so much fun, until you find THE ONE if you must have a large luxury sedan (aka: pre-owned Bentley Flying Spur, but it's hard to find with the right specs and at the right price), or until there is a confirmation on what the W223 facelift would deliver. I wish I pulled the trigger on a BMW M760 or B7 in 2021 built the way I want to be (which I just realized it's VERY hard to find now); I would have been driving it until today, but instead I got a facelift W222 and it was boring and not a wise choice since I had a pre-facelift W222 already. Good luck!
