Renderings released for 2026 S Class

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2...re-235846.html

My son, a real MB nerd, who now has my former 2012 S450 (72,000 miles) sent me this. In his opinion, it very much resembles the current C class.
Thoughts and reactions??

Quote from article:
"Don't rush to the snack cabinet yet, as Mercedes hasn't unveiled the 2026 S-Class. It probably won't do it until sometime next year, as the brand's refreshed flagship sedan is expected to arrive in the New World as a 2026 model.
So, what are these images that we shared above? Well, they're nothing more than mere renderings that caught our eye. They came courtesy of Digimods Design on YouTube and they show an unrealistic design of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class."

There are so many rendering out there that anybody's guess is as good as the next guy's. But yes, this would look an awful lot like a C-Class. I don't think that falls in line with MB's recently philosiphy, but who knows. Definitely not appealing to me. It looks too sporty and not elegant or classy. The 2024 S63 looks much brawnier than the stock W223. My guess is they will pursue a more masculine aesthetice over the current W223. I posted one here a couple months ago that was more masculine, but it definitely wasn't going to be the correct thing, the grill was resembleds a Chrysler 300. If I'm not mistaken, it was from this same website.

Well, it will have a lot of inspiration from the W214, most likely the W223 facelift will get some sort of superscreen from the W214.

The headlights will be highly influenced by the W214 although it is pretty much a given they will add stars to it, as shown in the spy shots a month or so ago.

The taillights will too be influenced by the W214 and therefore it will get those stars, there is a possibility it will get 3 stars in the taillight opposed to two on each side.

I agree, it looks like a bigger size C Class . I like W214 E Class' rear lights in star form but rendering those in headlamps is kinda over exaggerating to me . It looks cool though . What I would like to see is to get rid of tesla like display and replaced it via a proper 21:9 or 18:9 display

To my knowledge there was no 2012 US S450. Is it an S550?

Btw, whatever happened to the assertion that MBZ has "halted development" of ICE drivetrains?

Does this mean the new-for-2026 S-class will have a circa-2018 M176 engine and transmission? That's quite a deal for $150K or whatever they plan to charge for it two years from now ...

They are continuing ICE development due to the poor EV sales and the down trending in EVs in general, they are saying they will be continuing ICE sales well in the decade. (or so I heard).

Doesn't look to be the case.
