Leaking valve cover gasket helo

Hey all, so I have a good friend of mine who has a 2019 w222 s560, and has a small amount of oil entering his cyclinder 8 spark plug area. So the valve cover is leaking from what I gathered. Not much info out there, but I did find one post saying the engine needs to come out for a valve cover replacement?? I looked at his car, and it looks like it can be done with motor inside which of course all the other items removed away from the valve cover. Any suggestions? Car has only 56k on it

Thank you for reporting this.

This is interesting. @SW20S had his replaced recently at around the same mileage as I recall.

Yep, just had this done. Very interesting you’re having this done too. It’s a big job, it can be done with the engine in the car but they have to dismantle the whole front end and take the turbos off and the whole cooling system out to get access. 24 hours of book labor.

Is he under warranty? God I hope so.

He has warranty from a 3rd party vendor from what he told me, but his warranty is weird. He said it doesn't cover a issue unless there's a check engine light that directly effects the bad part. He had a coil and plug replaced under this warranty due to a leaking cover, but they didn't want to warranty the labor and cost for valve cover. Kind of stupid if you ask me considering there's oil inside the spark plug tube sitting ontop of the plugs which eventually make the coil foul out and misfire

No mentions of any of that stuff being done in the repair book. No front end removal, no engine out removal. M177 m176 motors in a w222 chassis based on the vin I provided to him.

I'm just telling you what was done to mine, and Mercedes paid for mine so I guarantee they did it the most efficient way. My independent mechanic also said that was the best way. If you look at my thread the service order is posted there along with all the parts replaced and the procedure used.
