Help with lugs

I am detailing a 2016 S550 4Matic. I have never dealt with these kind of lugs before. I bought the special flower socket.

The customer wants me to replace the lugs with these, although on the website it says it's a good fit, it seems like people are having issues with them. Has anybody ever convered their lugs to these? They are 14x1.5 17mm 1.10 shank (28mm shank, 55mm overall)

supposedly they just aren't fitting correctly on other models of Merc other then the S550, but the website is saying they will fit. So I guess I'm just trying to figure out if anyone has used these on their 550. I don't own one and I don't know much about the mercedes aftermarket world. I just don't want my customer to lose a wheel because of me lol.

Maybe some users buy the wrong seat style. Conical and radius seats can appear the same before close inspection.

well that may also have something to do with it. I'm still waiting for this flower socket to come in, so I'm not even sure if the OEM lugs on it now are cone or ball.

They'll fit, i'm pretty sure no one here would opt for autozone lug bolts. The way I see it, if your customer is telling you this is what they want, you have confirmed directly with them that these are being ordered, then it's really not your problem.

One question I would ask is are they running original wheels or aftermarket? Confirm the seat type with them.

Also, you dont need the flower socket, a six point 17mm will do.

Oh i wholeheartedly agree with that, i personally wouldnt use Autozone lugs on my vehicle either. But I have emails that show him telling me to buy these and use them.

Honestly I don't even think the guy knows how to take a wheel off, so when I get back out to the shop tomorrow I'll have to check the seat of whats on there now. They may not even be the same.

At that point I'll try and get him to buy the OEM flower looking ones. He wants them changed because someone knocked the chrome cap off a few of them.

A few things, some of them previously stated:
1. 17mm normal socket will work
2. The caps are removable (and replaceable)
3. As you stated your customer has no idea and the seat and length need to be correct, so whatever he sent likely will not work

I thought the flower heads were intended as a theft deterent. If they're entirely cosmetic, the owner needs therapy.

Well, that is what wheel locks are for but I mean for a determined theft, wheel locks are nothing either. Then there are also these: https://us.rimgard.com/

Why don't you advise him to buy the same new OEM flower-style lug nuts again, and just keep one of these flower-style protective drive in the trunk or glove box? Sounds like the customer intention to replace them with regular/standard Hex lug nuts is because of how many times the existing OEM lug nuts got damaged by inexperienced shop technicians. I used to have one of these drives in the glove box all the time, which I'd hand myself to any shop if I ever need to switch tires or fix a flat. Many of them don't even know they have to use special Mbenz flower-style drive to avoid damaging the lug nuts.
