Aluminum hood insulation tape

A portion of the underhood aluminum foil heat insulation has come loose on my 2020 S560. It was reattached a year ago with double sided tape. Does anyone know the tape type or part number for the tape. This is a high heat area since it sits just above the twin turbos and I’d like it to stay protected.

It does seem odd that the factory wouldn’t have attached that area with retainers like they did every else where on the heat shield’s perimeter.

Who re attached engine compartment insulation with double sided tape?
The hood insulation is held with fasteners, can you share a picture?

If your insulation is damaged just replace it, 222-682-45-01

It’s the aluminum heat shield that covers the hood pad in the area above the twin turbos that sit in the V of the engine on this model. The dealer shop attached the sagging portion when I pointed it out before I took delivery last year. It was a CPO purchase. I’ll take a photo when I get organized tomorrow.

Here’s the picture, the upper right hand corner is the area that was secured with two-sided tape and drops down. You can see the crease mark.

Various
I’d go with one of these options.

Or maybe HVAC UL listed aluminum tape? Probably not robust enough for this.

That makes a lot of sense. I’m going to the dealer today to have them re-attach, but I’ll have them order a replacement.

Re-attached with epoxy and it appears to be secure. If it appears loose when I take it in for the A service next month, I’ll have them put on a new part.
