Mercedes Benz E43 or S450 years (2018-2019)

Hello all,

I’m new to the forum but going onto my 4th Mercedes Benz car. I previously owned a Mercedes Benz c250 (Amg kit not engine) and I loved it. I’m looking to either get a Mercedes Benz E43 or a S450. Both are pretty similar in price. Additionally, I’m turning 30 this year.

Usage: daily driver, going to be used for going to work the gym get around town. Often, I make the trek to LA which is about 60 miles from me. I drive a decent amount so will spend a good amount of time in it.

Looking for others expertise the subject regarding anything from reliability, personal experiences and general knowledge. Thanks in advance for your time.

43 is barely an AMG. 63S or....the S

I have a 2016 S550e and received eclass cars a few times when I had it in for service/warranty work a few years back. One eClass was brand new like 2021 with literally no miles on it as a loaner from Autobahn motors in Silicon Valley. The service writer told me "we give these a loaners to attract people to want a new car, but it doesn't usually work for S-Class owners." Totally, while it was a VERY VERY nice car it wasn't a S-Class. But go drive them both back to back, your a pretty young dude and the e is smaller and thus might feel a little more sporty, S is big and while you can drive it very spirited it was made to cruise the highway.

Really depends what phase of life you feel you are in or entering. The S class is a solid choice. Happy hunting

Funny. As we mature certain things become less important. 30 yr old me would definitely go with the E43 and tune it. Get the 4 doors a reasonably comfortable ride and enough power to line it up for some fun. At my big age I love my boat the comfort is ridiculous and if I'm so inclined from time to time, I can put my foot in her behind she responds like a champ.

At 30, I would choose the E over the S. Smaller, more nimble, still a great vehicle with plenty of comfort and prestige.

Wait till your pulse slows, your back is shot and it takes 20 minutes to loosen up after a long sit-down to go for the S.

They’re both great cars, and there are reasons that Mercedes has both in the lineup.

2018 S560, 2004 SL500, 2014 S550 (SOLD), 2012 S550 x2(SOLD), 2007 CL600 (SOLD), 2007 S600(SOLD)
S-Class is superior in almost every way. Just don't be mad when every other car feels like a downgrade.

AMG S-Class is the winner. Get an S65 for Magic Body Control. Quiet and comfy on the freeway that will show taillights to most everything and handles better then many ‘performance cars.’

Find one with carbon ceramic brakes. Pads last to 100,000 or longer depending on the driver.

222 cars are so much improved over any that came before.
