2019 S560 trunk interior button

Hey everyone,
just bought a 2019 S560 and have been playing around with all the options and technology in it. One day I was trying to open the trunk for someone from the inside and the button didn’t work. The key fob button works, the trunk opens and closes manually just fine, even swiping my foot under the rear opens the trunk just fine. However, the interior button doesn’t open the trunk, it does through work to close the trunk. I’ve never seen this happen and maybe I’m just unfamiliar with the 560 since I just got it. Is the button supposed to open the trunk? I have trunk restriction off on the infotainment system, any help would be really appreciated!

Just in case it wasn't done in this manner: You lift it for a few seconds to open it and hold it down for a few seconds to close it. You need to keep lifting it until ot reaches the desired position. Letting go at anytime before that halts it.

Sorry, I might had mixed the models, might need a owner that still has the W222 to chime in with the proper method of opening it.

It should work for open & close. Most likely a bad switch.

Do you have the glow in the dark handle in the trunk?

Yup, sounds most likely the cause, or a fuse issue but more likely a broken button but that is a strange way to break though, can only close can't open.

Its very easy to replace the button. I have a writeup how to replace the whole auto close unit. Had to take the button out to do the job.
Just the button alone is prob 10 min job max.

His problem is with the button on the door not the one on the trunk lid.
