Sunroof won’t close

Sunroof won’t close
Hey guys, my sunroof opens and goes to tilt but when you try to close it the roof goes to tilt and lifts a little in the front. It stays like that, but it won’t close. If I choose to open it will open. I got a 2015 S550 4MATIC.

Summ ... beech! My sunroof went wonky like that a few weeks ago. I took it to my Indy and he said the only sure fix is to pull the entire Pano roof assembly out of the car (3.5 hours R&R) and fix it on the bench. He said most of his customers just have him work it closed and disconnect the switch.
Now that it's summer in Texas that's what I did but come fall I'll be wondering if there is any other way to get it going again ...

I fixed it!!!! It was one of the arms that lifts the back of the sunroof. It was stuck, so I took a screwdriver while holding the lock button on the key fob, push the top of the arm loose until it broke free. Now it acts normal now. I think I need to lubricate the sunroof now. Nobody I know thinks to do this.

I really think some of mechanics want to replace them to get paid. The majority of the sunroofs were probably just stuck and might needed lubrication. Now, if you hear something break then that’s a different story.

Yes, you can help prevent it. When the grease gets dry or old it might pick up dirt and then might end up cracking something when opening or closing the roof Every forgets about the sunroof even me lol.

The plastic pieces get old, brittle and break. The funny part is, when this happened to me I had just greased my rails not too long before the lifter cracked and broke. I greased mine trying to stay ahead of the maintenance, but it still broke on me. I also don't really use my sunroof, maybe 5x a year max.

Thanks for the tips as to how you fixed it . May I say we need to use the sunroof once a month at least for it to work properly .However ,my advice is to do it while the car is stationary as it endures resistance against elements
