2018 S560 headlight Issues

Went out to my car yesterday after a decent rain Thursday and got the below messages. Went out to check out the headlight and found there was a significant amount of moisture trapped in the headlight. How does that happen all of a sudden? Anyone have this happen? Can it be fixed? Does the bumper need to be removed to take out light? I can only imagine what this could potentially cost me…. And I just put 4k in it for engine and tranny mounts. Damn.

Yikes sorry to hear that, sounds like the headlight seal failed all of sudden and water got in, need to take it apart and check the module. That said, try scanning the code with a scanner and see what codes are found.

As an FYI with no proof, I once heard a Houston owner would eliminate moisture buildup using a hairdryer.

just scanned with ob2 reader. Zero codes. Surprised the messages that come up on the dash aren’t coming up as actual codes.

Did that. It’s completely dry now but active headlight fault still coming up along with low beam fault.

Moisture in the headlight is common after a seal fails. The bumper does need to come off to remove it. You can try drying and resealing it to save money, but a full replacement is expensive. A good independent shop is your best bet.

Interesting... hopefully drying it up will be enough to bring it back to life. What scanner did you used? not all scanners can read certain MB codes.

I can’t help you there. Maybe find a seasoned Indy.

Currently ‘2015 S550 4matic. Previously 03 E320, ‘06 S430, ‘08 S550 4matic
My previous ‘08 W221 headlight units had bulb replacement access covers. I would remove those and put a space heater in front of the car at headlight level. The moisture would evaporate pretty quickly. I understand that headlights in my 222 and beyond have no access at all.

2020 S560 4matic. 2017 Z06 convertible.
I had a similar experience on my 2020 S560. Warning on dash cluster, moisture, and my drivers headlight was also flashing very rapidly. I was still under cpo warranty so took it to the dealer. It needed a new driver side headlight assembly and both headlight modules to fix the issue.
If i wasn't under warranty the cost would have been $5K!! Insane repair cost. Thankfully, it didn't cost me a nickel.
