Carlos that colorful little guy in the bottom of the cluster is letting you know how you are doing for fuel economy.

Hybrids get the one that tells you how much the battery is being used + how quickly it is being charged via regeneration.

Your car with the four liter is all Ice-Ice-Baby!

Yes, the little cylinder count light in the top center of the instrument cluster let's you know if you have 8 or 4 cylinders activated. Sometimes during highway cruising around 70-80mph it will go down to 4 cylinders. I wouldn't know if it weren't for the indicatior, there's no change in sound or feel of the car.

You're right, no giant hybrid battery. But I did read how at certain conditioons it uses momentum to recharge either the auxilliary battery or the main battery, I can't remember which one. It does it in addition to the alternator. I'll try to find the source material.

Thanks for confirming, yea that was my concern, I am not sure if cylinder deactivation will cause any harm.

Oh that’s really cool! I think that’s only for the AMG or AMG coded theme.
When I had my W222, I could tell exactly when 4-cylinder activation turns on cause there would be minor harmonic like vibration, until Elebest coded it for me once and for all. I hated it.

I remember you and at least one or two other people mentioning you felt a vibration when in 4 cyl mode. I did some research and they say that the S63 uses a dual mass flywheel. I assumed that the S560 would also use a dual mass flywheel but maybe that isn't the case.

Majority of owners wouldn’t worry or even notice the vibration that am referring to; so it’s probably just a minor thing. I’d drive with a technician, and would tell him exactly when it happens while we’re both in the car, and he’d tell me he can’t feel it. My wife wouldn’t feel it either. I gave up and just asked Elebest to code it off. I guess am just too unlucky to pay attention to it. I know couple other people in the forum were able to feel it too.
I paid a lot of attention to it when I was shopping for my 2nd W222 and drove more than a dozen of options. I didn’t spend enough time in the S63 to confirm if it has it or not, but definitely it is a design issue that every S560 AWD I drove had it, not a single one didn’t. The interesting part is that those that were only rear wheel drive didn’t experience the same vibration (same for the idle vibration, was more subtle with RWD), and I have no idea why…

I’d still drive and buy W222 over and over again regardless of that issue…The most complete vehicle I had in its time.
