No more MB:(
I think the one thing that is most difficult to accept is how can MB go from the 221 and 222 which had IMO very strong interiors to this? It's not even close. The current 222 interior is just about as perfect as possible, and MB comes up with this? This is what 7+years of R&D and planning gets you, this is the best they can do in terms of design?

That's a damn good point

I think they just might. Imagine that.

Very good point I agree with that. I just wish they somehow made the 223 look more elegant instead of parts just being plastered on everywhere.

I don't personally see it in the W223.

The exterior design: it looks like a mid-cycle refresh.

The interior: if it's the same as the leaked photo a few months ago, then its a total disappointment for many consumers that don't really care for touch screen, its a nice option to have but where is the real buttons.

The tech aspect is great and I'm sure it will lead the entire industry.

I have been driving AMG S63 for a little over 10 years, switched between 3 of them sedan and coupe. the best vehicles I ever owned.

Once again that's my personal opinion.

The Toyota looks pretty good actually.

Toyota looks better than the new S, seriously. There's actually a design there, some styling too.

not sure how "that" makes Toyota design better....
I do understand that "it looks better" is personal opinion and taste. and Toyota def created a nice modern design. Kudos to them for that.
not sure this dashboard follows Toyota's design language faithfully either.
I can see some hardcore Toyota followers screaming foul just as well.

apples and oranges in my opinion..

I don't know enough (or anything really) about Toyota to say what their design language is or should be. My point is the Toyota has some element of design to it, and for what it is it actually looks good. Probably an improvement over previous generations and a step in the right direction.

Whatever you think about the 223 interior (In pictures, I don't care for it) that Toyota, for that price point, looks quite nice to me. Oh, and the knobs. Good stuff.

The console TOUCH screen should Be easily reachable to the right hand. That’s why it’s positioned where it is on the W223. Ergonomic. Touch. I thought it should sit higher until thinking that it is awkward to lean forward to reach to a higher screen on the center dash.

I think the Kia Carnival (Sedona) will be the market leader in minivan interior quality.

Well, you folks have always had it more difficult with LHD vehicles, but now it will be even worse for lefty W223 drivers. Hadn’t thought about that.

The order book for the W222 closed months ago. When do we think we will see the Dealer Ordering Guide (DOG) for the 2021 model? Probably after the full reveal of the new car, but anytime now, right?

In Europe, the new S-Class can be ordered in September with deliveries starting in November. Presumably we will see the an official launch on/before that time. These launches used to be big events but during COVID times we'll have to see if they do anything. The latest launch of the AMG GT Black Series, AMG used an annoying Youtuber (Shmee 150) to provide the first official launch info. Disappointing to say the least.

But that would mean that Netstar would have data in September. I wouldn't expect any DOG before launch. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes launches the car as a 2022 model if they don't launch before the end of the year.

If I recall, within the past month the new CEO of Daimler (Ola Källenius) stated “the new S Class will be launched in early September if not before“. So I would think the US version would be released as a 2021 but who knows. But clearly no big reveal like the W222 in May 2013.

Well, they could do a BIG reveal, if they did it right. I’m thinking a truly high end, professional, video. And, once they had the format down, they could shoot it multiple times, with the various, major languages and different spokespersons. It would certainly cost some big bucks, but a new S deserves such a reveal.

There will be a reveal for the S Class in September. May end up being a virtual one instead of the traditional one.
As for production, it will start after that.
I doubt that we will see any cars in the US until after the new year.
Don't forget that the federalization paperwork has to be done as well.
That can and probably will delay the release of the US cars. My guess is that we won't see any of these cars until the spring. No point in launching a new model in the dead of winter.
