Sorry don’t like it at all. Outside is an E class in my opinion and the interior I can’t stand. One thing I hate more then anything is when it looks like the screen is an afterthought. The dashboard sure looks like that. I understand have a large screen is the “ new way” but let’s at least make it flush with some nice leather around it. The 222 I felt did it perfectly. I do miss my 222 63 which I traded for a 18 gls 63 after having problems but this interior does not do it for me. One last thing, it’s very very boring looking. I love technology but technology does not make it luxury or good looking

I think the front looks fine, "imposing" is the word that comes to mind. For the interior, I like having a big expanse of wood. Not so sure about the design of the HUD though...assuming that is what it is...does it really need to be in a gaping cavity like that?

Like most of you - I've had S Classes in the past (4 different generations). Don't understand their thinking here. This is for what customer? The millennial? With what money are they buying this? For The sons of rich people? What about the core customer of an S Class. 45 and up - accomplished - executives - preferring comfort conservative design over wild departures? Have they abandoned them/us? The interior is a hit job. Just ... two screens and that's the end of that - both of which don't look like they belong in the car but are after thoughts? They look like the test computers car engineers use to measure physics and then take them out later. What a mess. The front grill looks like a bad nose job - the rear looks like a genesis (which I give styling win to genesis). Why would they do this? They totally abandoned their core customer.

Honestly after seeing this I believe if I ever want to upgrade my W222 in the next 2-4 years I will certainly go for a the GLE-AMG, or keep my S-class until something else comes up!! I hope they listen to the fans and make the crazy decision to completely renovate the lights and the exterior shape of them when they face-lift them (not just upgrading the interior of the light) during the mid-life of the car (they same way they did with the E-class this year).
The E-class exterior (specifically the rear) looks even better than the S-class. I am also very disappointing to the fact that they made the modules inside the taillight and front headlights to look intentionally old so they give themselves a chance to do something when they face-lift it!. You can clearly tell that they could have done a much better job with the LED platform inside the light especially that the overall narrow look is ugly, they should have at least made effort not to make the light's interior look old or out-of-fashion.

Also the car looks dated already - dated as in this looks like it could be from the 90s. There's no future feeling to it. Just the two screens doesn't make this the car of the future. Even Tesla had this 6 years ago. And Tesla managed to make the interior look like the future. Why didn't they at least go with the concept from the EQS? It might still have been weird looking - but at least it looks like it's from the next decade not the previous.

It will be a fabulous driving car in all regards, not for me though, I just wouldn't be able to live with that interior.
I spend probably 10% of my life inside my car, therefore the environment around me is important to me and this is definitely not it.
Will keep my 2019 as long as I can (2-3 years, would be a new record) and will get something different.

I also noticed that the driver screen is too big relative the opening in the steering wheel.

IMO a better design might have been to have the screen behind the steering wheel fixed, and possibly larger, and the HUD moved back up against it, to better hide the HUD.

I haven't seen anyone say they want to buy this new S Class. One can only hope the EQ S will end up nicer, but I fear they'll bring that touchscreen over. I felt similar about other Mercedes but ended up liking it, hopefully, the same will happen here. If not, they're going to lose a lot of their old customers

They would have to pay me a lot of money to suffer driving that. I have no idea what the hell they are thinking. It took a lot for me to get past the laughing clown face steering wheel in my 2015 but this is a whole different story. No chance...

I have no idea what Klaus was smoking when he came up with this design but talk about fugly. (could care less about the exterior, but I don't think ANYONE would like the interior. Talk about cheap!)

^To be fair, it's not really fair comparing a Flying Spur to an S class (to a Maybach, maybe, but there are no 'leaks' of it yet).

Thanks. Just night and day. Not even comparable. You could even throw in the current S or previous 221 and blow this out. Imagine this new 223 interior without the thick wood veneer, low end all the way. No amount of leather or badging can mitigate this mess. Those vents seem to be getting worse.

One can only assume they will be identical. So at the price nearing $200,000 for the Maybach S560 - it does come within Bentley Flying Spur V8 territory.

Fair or not, my takeaway from this comparison is Bentley evolves but stays close to it's roots. This S is a disaster. If you said this interior is in a 60K car I'd believe you. I'm sure the fit/finish will be high quality but the design language is non-existent.

Maybach S650 Dash is same dash as Mercedes S560. One can conclude that will continue in this generation. They're not making two totally different dash boards. There is nothing you can't get on the dash in a Maybach that you can't get in an S560 if you pay for it (Flowing wood lines, colorations, etc)

I just refuse to believe it, and would rather give the benefit of the doubt, I guess.

Oh don't get me wrong. I agree with you that on a balance of probabilities the new Maybach will look very similar to the S class, in line with the W222. I just, still, can't believe the S class is now this abomination of a car (223), and cannot fathom how a Maybach would look like this, especially given strong competition from VAG!
I just refuse to believe it, and would rather give the benefit of the doubt, I guess.

The Bentley is beautifully executed but it is also and old school design. Small bits aside, there is nothing innovative about it. Just like 20 years ago with updated tech. The new S-Class is not my taste at all but with forward looking tech... I am personally curious about this huge hole in the dash for the HUD.Given that this is a level 3 autonomous car I wonder how big that windshield display is and what it shows.
The driver instrument panel looks almost loose or crooked. I wish Mercedes would start making curved displays a la Taycan...
