The steering wheel you are referring to is the multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather, code L5C, and I think you can order it only in conjunction with AMG line.

Congrats on your order. I would suggest you be prepared to be very patient. Germany is back in COVID lock down again and your build date might change.

For the ones that didn't hear, there is a severe micro-processor shortage in the auto industry that affects all companies. That has even led to some complete factory shutdowns.
Obviously COVID will also have an ongoing impact on manufacturing and supply chain so more delays are highly likely...

Realistically the S-Class availability was scheduled for somewhere in Q2 anyway, so hopefully not a huge delay. The only thing that puzzles me is MB calling the new S-Class a 2021. Realistically it should be a 2022. They have the pushed the MY with several new introductions before so this would have made sense here as well.

Thank You! That information is helpful and takes some of my anger away. I speak with the dealer they don't know, I speak with customer service in Georgia, they don't know and tell me to speak with my dealer. I told them I spoke with the dealer and they didn't have an answer, they replied speak with your dealer, are they listening or just reading answers off a piece of paper? Before ordering I did speak with my dealer, he showed me options and pricing, on the car and 3D Heads Up I see (ON CONSTRAINT), I asked them to check with their regional rep. his answer is you can order that car with that option, no problem. I put a deposit down, they order the car, I get a P.O. Order number, then told Mid-June before it's built? I'm sure the higher (much higher) ups know what going on at M.B. this knowledge sure doesn't seem to trickle down?

I placed the order for my S580 back on September 16th, with a $10,000 deposit, at a Southwest Florida dealer. I have the AMG package with 21” wheels and the 3D heads up display amongst a number of other options including the 4 degree steering. The dealer notified me 2 weeks ago that my car has been produced with all options that I ordered. The car is awaiting shipment but as of today, has not been shipped. Apparently, there is a backlog of cars awaiting ships that have been delayed due to covid. The dealer expects my car will be delivered to me in mid to late March. I was number 5 on the dealer’s allocation list.

Congrats! I believe they have been manufacturing 2021 S Class sedans for awhile but not for the United States. So, your order being put in several months before me it appears they had the necessary options to complete. In normal times I was told when you order a Mercedes figure on three or four months before you receive it. As you can see your order is taking six months, so there is some delay, Covid-19 or parts, who knows. Thanks for the feedback, just a short wait for you, Hurray!

Back Again Twin Cam! Your order sounds really close to mine, a question: I would think your dealer gave you a Configure Printout with a P.O. Number, if so can you please look at it and tell me which steering wheel is on the order, if you ordered a Nappa Leather wheel it should be L2B or L5C (I think that's the code).

Germany is currently back in COVID lockdown so no doubt that's had a big effect on your order. I think MB is trying to do the best they can given the pandemic. Can't wait to see pictures when you finally get your car.

Update on my order. My dealer called me today to update me that they are about to start production and I should be expecting it here by May or latest June. Apparently they have the parts needed for the 3D display now.. don’t know much about the different stages of production but mine is at the stage where I can’t make any changes now, which is fine with me. I got everything I wanted on my order, just bracing myself for the price. I asked him if there’s a price published yet and he said no. Found that kind of strange they would go this far without letting you know what the price is.

Anyways, glad I put in my order to get in line early. He said if anyone orders it now it’s will probably be 14 months before get get it.. Wow!!

I’m sure he does, this guy is just special and probably thinking I’ll change my mind if I knew the price. I’m not pushing it because I know it will be around what I had in mind which was $140k. My options are like yours with the exception of the wheels. I have the 21” AMG wheels and also the 4D surround sound option. I’m ready to drop $150k in total if I have to so that’s cool. I ordered mine in mid October 2020.

Your order went in two months before mine, that's why they are telling me July or August. I was just showing you the prices I got from my dealer off their system, not trying to discourage you! Your order should be just North of $140,000.00 seeing the 4D Sound is a little over $6,700.00. I wish mine was coming in a few months, hope it all goes well for you!

I think it's great that you held out to get everything you wanted option wise. I think that's important when making such a big purchase. Can't wait to see the pictures. My condolences to your bank account, lol.

this is common to our dealer too In United Arab Emirates, as they said this feature won't be exist any more until you wait as a production issue, the same for the Piano wood Glowing lines and 21 AMG Rims. I was lucky that I got all off these features on my car which arrived just last Thursday with 3D cluster, Augmented Reality , 21 AMG wheels, 4D high end sound system. all you need is to wait, as been told in Mercedes there are lines of productions some lines are effected with the Covid issues which delay the production.

My car has arrived at the port in Brunswick where it is on hold until the US release date. My dealer said that the car was delivered with all of the equipment that I ordered. I ordered the 3-D Display and Heads Up Augmented Reality. My car is the AMG version like Tariq’s, with much of the same equipment including the 21” wheels. I hope the dealer is correct that nothing was delayed!
