3D Display delayed.

3D Display delayed.
Got a call from my dealer asking if I want to take off the 3D display option because it’s delayed and could delay my production. Damn it!!
I could do without the 3D display cluster but after looking at that option package, I saw it comes with the augmented reality heads up display which is a must have for me, so I called them back to tell them to keep it. Now not sure how long it would delay the production but I guess it’s worth the wait.
Anyone received any similar calls on delayed parts?

These "delays" may be more extensive than usual but nearly every S-Class release since at least the W220 days have had option availability issues. Between key options being unavailable and first-year models being somewhat more problematic, I deny myself the excitement of being a day one buyer and wait a year until Mercedes gets more of what I expect, in place.

Also, do you know what's the situation with the steering wheel? Is the new fancy dual row steering wheel only with the DF0 package? Only have options for the 3spoke steering wheel, L2B and L2D

MBUSA is no longer doing Euro Delivery. BMW and Audi stopped Euro Delivery as well. Seems like Porsche has not closed down Euro Delivery YET. I don't know if Euro Delivery is still being offered by Volvo.
I sure am glad I did Euro Delivery on my '19 S63 since MBUSA has stopped Euro Delivery permanently.

Anyone have a PDF with pricing?
Anyone know when Euro Delivery is starting?[/QUOTE]

So they stopped ED permanently? I knew BMW did. I am wondering why both of these manufacturers decided to stop these programs "permanently". I figured due to COVID they would suspend them but why shut it down for good? It was hugely popular. I was able to pick up my last two BMWs there, I really wanted to try the MB version of it.

Probably not efficient for them. Streamlining seems to be all they care about anymore. Line them up and sell them.
I've never done ED but it was always on the list, maybe one day they bring it back. Definitely taking the fun out of it.

I have yet to see anything in writing about this so I'm not sure this is anything more than pandemic related. Germany is going back into a hard lock down so that will also contribute to delays.

Does anyone know if production has started on the S Class, either S500 or S580, for the US market? My dealer is not aware of any production delays, but has not given me a date of when my order is scheduled for production. If production of US models does not start until April or later, it may be better to wait a few more months for a 2022 model. Please post if you hear anything.

I find this very frustrating with Mercedes. They basically tease you with all these advanced features, purporting that their car is the pinnacle of new tech, but what you actually get is not what they show the Press. Same thing with GLE, they made a few e-ABC cars and then discontinued it.

There was a notice to dealers posted in Netstar, which has been linked here. Euro Delivery is done for good

Sorry for just getting back. My computer died. So, no cars I am aware of have these options, but I really do not like the stripped down rear seat we would get in US and the standard lights. I do not really care for the large center plastic console either. The items not available would have made me overlook the the center console and odd drivers display. I also was going back in forth on the size. I really do not need such a long car, but kind of just wanted an S. The car I was comparing it to and ultimately ordered is not a direct competitor. I decided to order a 2021 M5.
