What thoughts are you looking for? They found an issue and are correcting it. The screw isn’t loose either but apparently screwed into the wrong spot so that the thread isn’t deep enough.
Personally am ambivalent about recalls. Ideally one never wants a recall but when things are discovered that need correction, a recall should then be announced quickly and taken care of.

The worst is obviously when a company tries to hide a defect due to the potential costs and people die as a result. Sadly this has happened many times...

To me the more interesting part of the article was the comment that MB already has 40,000 orders for the new S-Class; more than it had for the very successful W222 at the same time.

What crazy times we live in. So many, previously successful folks in the world are suffering terribly, due to the CCV pandemic. At the same time and in such sharp contrast, others are flush with expendable cash, as the stock markets, some other investments and some businesses have skyrocketed into the stratosphere. At the same time, there are few places where one can spend all these inflated funds, so why not buy a new luxury car? The jury is still out on whether or not you’ll be able to drive it to the country club or a ritzy resort. My new 2020 S560, that I got in early October just hit 1,000 miles. Should have been at least triple that by now. Oh well.

There is more wealth and there are more millionaires today than in 2015. Not surprised by this metric given the overall strength of the luxury market. All this despite covid.

From what I read, Covid mostly affected the poor and lower-income earners in general. Sales of cars between $25,000 - $45,000 have dropped significantly, while sales of high end luxury cars have stayed stable or even grew.

There is always an increasing amount of money in the world. That's what it does, it grows.
