Color selection assistance - MY 2022
Hi,
I plan on ordering a W223 but I’m slightly confused about color selection. I don’t intend to get a black so Black, Obsidian and Onyx are out.
I liked Ruby Red but they made it a different shade and now call it Rubellite Red which I’m not sure about. The other one I like is Emerald Green but I’m not sure how it would look on a S. I saw it on some other merc that I don’t remember.
I’m also curious about this Nautical Blue but have never seen it in flesh.
what’s your opinion? Since I’ll be buying this, I do have some inclination on reselling the car and not having an outlier.
best.

I went with cirrus silver with the macchiato interior. Dark colors and interiors were not an option for me as I live in south Florida. I would hold off until you see the new darker colors in person, that way you will not regret your choice.

You really should see the colors in person before ordering. In 2011 when Lunar Blue was a new color, ( and not on any cars yet ) my salesman had a paint shop make a 3x6" color swatch for me. That was big enough to really see the color. I ordered Lunar Blue based on the color swatch. When I got my car, the swatch was a perfect match with the actual car color.

Emerald Green over Saddle Brown or Macchiato Beige would be my choice.
Emerald green is just such a great color for the S-Class. Its incredibly elegant and dark until the light hits it just right and you see the metallic sparkle. Elegant color for an elegant car, and it pairs so well over tan/brown or beige.

I have seen this in flesh and loved it. Not seen Nautical blue yet. The problem is I can’t until this car launches. But we can do preordering.
Your interior selection is also spot on. Never understood black interior where all lines and nuances are hidden.

the 2022 dog shows it to be a dark blue. presumably to replace lunar blue. benzo wouldn't go very long without offering a dark blue hue. also - the maybach-mercedes vision concept 6 coupe was shown ~3yrs ago in what the marketing department showed and described as 'nautical blue' ,,, so dollars to doughnuts ,,, this is it!

To be honest the car where I received the most attention conversation and compliments was my blue W220 amg...can’t remember the darkish blue name but similar to the photo... I loved it and people would get out of their cars and walk past my car staring...
Afterwards I reverted back to Silver’s, blacks and whites.... not sure why....some verbiage about better resale, but my blue amg drowned in Storm Isaac so I couldnt speak on personal resale of the non-sheep colors... been a sheep since...
one day I’ll "order" a new car... but every car I have purchased was via a dealer visit... no color anticipation...
the green and the blue in this thread are beautiful and will be uncommon... I admire your thought

I remember this photo. I believe it was from an issue of Car and Driver magazine. I’m a GREEN guy. I love the color green. Unfortunately, for me, the MB Emerald Green almost NEVER looks like the above photo, because it has a heavy metallic tinge to it, which I really dislike. Why MB insists on giving us almost exclusively metallic and pearlescent colors is just beyond me. If they offered a gorgeous, solid color, British Racing Green, like on this Bentley, I would order it in a heartbeat.
Not my car, but an example of Orient Blue Metallic.
Emerald Green looks gorgeous when the sun hits it.

Ok so just saw this color in flesh and it’s a doozy. I saw it indoor and outdoor in the sun. And with teary eyes I apologised to car God for misjudging this color and placed the order right away.

Stephane did you go with the Emerald/Sienna Brown combination? I am about to order Nautical Blue over Sienna Brown. Not sure if the Sienna Brown is a little too orange though? Would have preferred Saddle Brown as an option in the S!

Has anyone got a pic of the new 2022 Nautical Blue? Can't seem to find an actual pic anywhere.

Hi there,
I went with GLS63 AMG in April as I didn't wanna order a new S without looking at it.
I did see Sienna Brown and it is an amazing color. I think they just renamed Saddle brown and made the leather even more supple.
I haven't seen Nautical Blue though. I did finalize Emerald green in my build though.

I'm interested in the E450 2dr Coupe or theE450 4dr. Coupe. I love the exterior colors Dune Silver Metallic AND Ruby Black Metallic. Either of these colors with a Machioto Beige Interior. Neither seem to be available. And, I don't want Black or Grey. We are so disappointed.

I strongly recommend against Sienna Brown interior.
Despite the name, it is more a shade of orange, and it does not blend well with any of the wood trim options.
Also, Sienna Brown is not actually a 'solid color' option. It is more of a bi-colour of orange on black. Not a harmonious combination.
I suggest taking a look at either beige (pure beige, not beige on black) or solid grey. Both have enough character to be more interesting than plain-old black, and combine well with wood trim elements (beige with fanned walnut, grey with piano black flowing lines).
