2021 S500 (Mojave Silver), MB S400 (wife), BMW 750Li (passed on to kids)
Interior Assist was originally an optional feature and ONLY for dark color interior. At time of ordering I couldn’t get it with Sienna Brown exclusive Napa leather. Only configurations/orders from around March/May were you able to get it in all colors. Also, I might be wrong but I don’t think it’s a standard feature in all markets, and in the US there are specific package that you can’t deviate from that I assume include Interior Assist, thus seemingly “standard.” Of course, in 2022 that seems to be changing.

According to the below Mercedes press release, Interior Assist will be standard in 2022 (indicating it was an option in 2021?).

Interesting, is it a mistake or perhaps an issue with the cameras to read your hand movements against certain background colour? Different options depending on others is already too complicated to be handled by our (European) configurator, no need to add restrictions based on interior colour.

As I previously mentioned, when Interior Assist first become available it was only with dark interiors. I personally believe it was due to technology of the sensor/camera overhead. I assume the sensitivity improved and they added more interior colors to be compatible. If it was stated that currently it can’t be ordered with silver grey, I’ll bet then you can’t also order for the Macchiato interior.

Strange indeed, although not gonna lie, Silver Grey is probably my least favorite W223 interior choice, but I've never been a fan of gray interiors. Honestly the only thing I could get the interior assistant to do was turn on the passenger light. You can set up a function to a hand gesture, but I could not get it to work at all, and the sunroof gesture is useless since you wave your hand pretty much under the sunroof slider.
