I hope you guys realize that the no V8 situation just applies to the U.S. market for just the 2022 model year. Other markets are still getting other V8 models, including the G-Class.

Per my Salesman, MB is saying January release as some major update is in progress. No details but I suspect the Active Ambient Lighting is either being deleted or fixed. He said a similarly built car was released after 24 days of "updates"
We will see and I will post any update I receive.

That is a very long time!
Any missing or delayed features in your car?
In mine, Air balance is inoperable - waiting for chip

I really don't know since the care remains at the VPC. There is nothing missing on the Spec sheet. All options are priced and no credits. No specifics from MB.
My 2022 S580 has been released to the transport company. Just waiting for it to hit the dealer. Looks like everything is on this vehicle: 3D Technology Package (DF0 - 445 & 451) + Active Ambient Lighting (878). No standard items deleted. Hopefully there won't be any issues with the car.
Cool. Just as MercedesMax said it would be released. I am surprised there are not more posts about the likes and not likes about their new cars. Same thing when members were waiting for the 2021's to be released, some posted twice a day or more and then it dropped after the release. I hope everyone is enjoying their new cars!

My 2022 S580 was delivered last week. It was built in July. All the options that were questionable were included (3D Technology Package & Active Ambient Lighting.) So far, I love the car. There is a lot to learn on the car. Everything is not intuitive. I went through the dealer training. I am wading my way through the 600 page owner's manual. I will work with it for another week or 2 and create a list of questions. Then I will go back to the dealer for another training session to better understand the features that are confusing to me. I read a lot of comments about the door handles. They work fine in my car, and I think they are cool. I don't know how far away the key releases the door handles because my car is parked in an underground parking garage and I never walk up to it with my key unless I intend to enter the car. I can imagine there could be confusion if you park your car in a home garage and you walk around with your keys in your pocket. I don't know that for a fact, but just a guess. The AAL is fun to sit and look at. I found myself sitting in the darker garage for a few minutes just looking at the lighting. The dealer did have to do a minor software update on the AAL to get it working correctly. So far, so good. I had a S450 prior to the 580, and now I have to get used to the power of the 580. I am trying to resist the urge of "punching it" just to see what happens.
I hope all of you that are waiting for delivery, get your car soon.

Glad you are liking it. They are beautiful and he styling is well balanced. I too like the ambient lighting. You mentioned the 600 page owners manual. I don't want to learn that much, although sometimes I come across something cool that I didn't know about. I know some people like some features and others don't but I wish I could permanently turn some of those off that I don't want so I could just drive the car as I need. I admit part of the reason I bought the car was the "Mercedes" prestige, but I didn't like the styling of the competition, especially their huge grills and so many buttons and other controls. I have always liked big cars and the size is great for me. I hope you continue to enjoy it for many years!

how would you rate the 3 D HUD!! Worth the hype

The 600 page manual could be condensed down to 125 pages if they didn't have to add all the ridiculous safety warnings to protect them from being sued. I learned from my mom, 65 years ago not to close the door with my hand in the door and not to close the sunroof with my head sticking out. I try to speed read through the junk in the manual, but they have done a good job of putting something of importance mixed in with the junk. A lot of the reading has to do with settings that you may want to make and never change again. Many have to do with the definition of a button or the location on the screen of a setting you may want to change. I just sit down and read 25-50 pages at a time and make a list of questions. It would be more helpful if I was reading the manual while I was in the car so I could see or touch what they are describing. With the length of the manual, that approach isn't practical for many people. I think the car is a classy looking car.

Mine is a 2021, but when in the garage with the car in Acc mode, I could not turn off all of the exterior lights while I was trying to learn the features. After awhile I got a message on the screen to start and drive the car to charge the battery. A call to Mercedes support confirmed there is no OFF position for the lights. Most of my issues are fairly minor but some I would not expect them for the price of the car. Even so, in about the five months I've had the car, I have not had any warranty issues. I don't expect any and enjoying the car more each drive.
congratulations!!
how would you rate the 3 D HUD!! Worth the hype
It is interesting that you asked that question. When I first got the car, I was very disappointed in the HUD. I couldn't see the information in the windshield. I was really upset that I spent $3000 on that option. Then, one day, as I was sitting in my parking spot in the underground parking garage, I took off my sunglasses and all of a sudden, the HUD was bright, and all the information was in the windshield. I put the sunglasses back on and the HUD became unclear and some of the information disappeared again. Since Google is my friend, I did some reading and found that you cannot wear polarized sunglasses with the HUD, if you want a clear and complete image. If I had asked any current military pilot about this topic, I would have learned that there is an entire sunglass industry selling non polarized sunglasses to military and commercial pilots. I researched good non polarized sunglasses and I ordered a pair yesterday. Once they arrive, I assume that my problem will be fixed. When I test drove the car without wearing sunglasses, I liked the HUD. I have to admit, I haven't taken a trip where I used the mapping information. On my short trip, it worked as designed. I was told that I cannot use the mapping apps from my iPhone and have the map show up in the HUD. I have to use the Mercedes mapping program. If I want to use my Iphone map, I have to rely on the map showing up on the center display.
