My 2015 has a very simple “ favorite” button that allows you to access screens of your choice with 1 push of a button? Does the 2021 not offer this feature?

What “more”? please elaborate.

Thank you in advance for enlightening us!
Yes it does have a favorite button and you can store many features on it. After a few days the mbux is simple to use and not distracting at all.

So sorry about the cognitive dissonance model going on here. I loved my S at the start….posted many photos. It became “downhill racer” quickly. The seat position issue could not be corrected. The cameras wanted to see my eyes at all times. As a 5’9” man, I kept the seat high, as always. Steering column relatively low. Non stop correction notices, clogging up the driver’s cluster. I caved…gave in, most often adjusting my seat….and annoying me to the core. As mentioned, I bailed, I bolted. As an FYI, I am a tech guy. It comes easily to me. My conclusion, in one of my early posts was that this car is constantly trying to prove how smart it is….looking for me to go to that “ah hah” moment. Gimmickry….wasted on me. The OLED screen was so seductive to me….I live with them in my home. It was a thing of beauty in the new S. My interest waned though. And yes…..3 seconds is a long time to wait for door handles to pop out, especially when there are 4 passengers wanting in.

To be clear, I’m in a 2021 Porsche SUV now. No complaints.

@Nonformulaic Which Porsche did you get and which trim level? Cayenne is on my radar when it's time to replace the GLE.

After 2 months of ownership and a hiccup with the electrical system i still love my S-Class. Being my first S-Class maybe my expectations weren't as high as some of yours.

Truly happy for you. Enjoy second by second. There’s a lot of “gorgeous” to enjoy, for sure. My post COVID, post Trump threshold is much lower as of late. But still, writing a check for nearly $130,000….I’m looking for a lot more than transportation from point A to point B. I’d very much like to not have my car being the noun in my life. That said, I still get my kicks from a special vehicle. I call it “LBF” (look back factor”). Simply stated, do I turn my head to view my car after I walk away? That’s when it becomes a noun for me. I hated feeling like a goon waiting for door handles to eject; I despised being governed and dictated to, having my seating position regulated; I was cheated out of soft pillows for my head and left with hard MB Tex flat slabs of headrest/restraint vinyl offering me zero support. Other items too….such as interior assistant…MIA. There are many vehicles which were not so “de-contented” which could’ve pleased me. It’s nice to have a car that does what it’s supposed to do. Given a choice, I would’ve been happier in a dreaded Lexus….where vehicles work, get seamlessly serviced, and service staff is product knowledgable. OK? I flirted with the notion and instead went forward with the Cayenne. It fits, it works, it even thrills somewhat. It looks great in my garage. And…and…I do not feel exploited, if not outright stupid driving it.

When you purchase a Porsche being exploited is part of the experience. Want tires with that SUV? Let's see how expensive they will be...

Ah, okay, got it. I suppose it's possible to own an MB and not speak kindly about the new cars being released.

I am reading all these posts with interest. I used to be excited about getting my 2022 S580 (that has been sitting in Brunswick for several week). Now I don't know if I should be excited, hide under the covers or take 2 valium tablets. I think you guys are just trying to get me to cancel my new car so you can scoff it up

Hopefully it will be fine and you'll luv it, but some of the stories here are a bit disconcerting to say the least let alone the poor JD power data in both types of surveys. I also don't buy that forums only/mostly bring out the problems, as many here, and on others gush about how great their vehicles are. Just give her a good protracted careful test before you sign.

I had my eye on a 2022 too, @RJC , and it is disconcerting to read complaints about the S580. I got to sit in a 2021 last weekend, and could see some items areas where it looked cheaper than my prior Mercedes. I don’t think the center console looks very upscale with the black plastic “lacquered “ trim and flowing horizontal lines. I’d opt for one of the real wood options. I’d be disappointed with missing content too, especially in the seating.

I also like the Cayenne and may look at the hybrid model. I’ve always had good luck with the nearest Porsche dealership.

It’s an awful time to be shopping for a new car. Inventory levels are abysmal, and parts shortages could make living with an unreliable model difficult.

Sounds good. Someone commented about how expensive the maintenance is with Porsches….specifically the tires. Last I checked, I had all season factory standard Michelins…which are non run flat. Separately, the first paid by owner service is at 20,000 miles.

Standard tire.

With all these complaints including rough down shifts, I can not/will not hand over $143K for such abysmal quality. This is very damning of MB.

I disagree with you. Japanese carmakers don't seem to have this problem. When Audi launched the A8 in 2019, there were almost none of these on major forums. Look at the LS500, Audi A8 forums. They're dead. Sure, they don't sell nearly as well, combined, as the S but that statement just isn't true.

The JD Power data are a reasonable assessment of quality especially when viewed over the longer term with some like Lexus and Porsche consistently doing quite well in this regard, MB unfortunately has been going in the opposite direction. Let's hope MB pulls it together soon and rises back up to the top 5 as its been quite a while.

This new S Class is pretty much a brand new car from the wheels up. I will also say that buying a first production run of any car is definitely like rolling the dice. This car especially since it’s so high tech and so many new, groundbreaking features that MB hasn’t done in the past. Couple that with supply chain issues and, I’m sure, labor issues all due to Covid and there are probably gonna be some that roll off the line with issues. The scariest thing for me would be them not having a fix, update or part for months.

After a few months time, when MB starts to get the rhythm together on this techie vehicle, I am sure many-most of the bugs will be worked out or they will have fixed, updates and parts.

I had the flowing lines in both my S coupes and they worked very well on them, but I can see your point on how they might not integrate as nicely with that giant screen right in the middle of the center stack. Agreed it’s not a great time to buy lux anything right now, one of these days the balloon’s going to let out significant amounts of pumped up air.

Sure there are few personal taste pet peeves that are hardly worth mentioning. For example, to lock the boot when valet parking you need to enter a 4 digit PIN. No problem. But the car has to be at a standstill. Why? I have no idea. Safety issue?? Hardly. Would be nice if I could enter PIN as I’m driving in instead of having to wait until I actually stop. Totally first world problems. So no real complaint.

This isn't true. Plenty of Lexus models have problematic first years as well, I know I post a ton on CL and I drove exclusively new Lexus vehicles from 1998-2020. There were a lot of issues with the 2018 LS500, also the 2007 LS460

I have never owned a Lexus that required no warranty repairs, and my 2015 LS460 spent its first 2 weeks in my ownership at the dealer with a hard to repair faulty infotainment system.

Curious, is it possible to do that in Mercedes Me or you have to enter the PIN inside the vehicle?

I have had the same experience as Sonic Boom and have had no problems whatsoever. The car is such a pleasure to drive in every respect and is superior in ride comfort, handling and quietness to the previous model. I do not have run flat tires and I have the 4.5 steering. My only pet peeve is where they put the door lock/unlock switch on the drivers door, a bit hard to locate. As much as I love the car, I remain disgusted with MB over the delayed launch and lack of communication on when my car would be shipped out of Brunswick. No excuse for the car sitting in a lot for 5 months…maybe the new norm for MB.
