One tip I failed to realize earlier was AutoNation dealers. Since there are soo many brands under their umbrella, you could trade in for another brand without any issues.
You know, I bet you are right on that about AutoNation. Perhaps, if I had realized that early on, I could have made sort of a deal on a new Porsche or Bentley, as both Newport Beach dealerships are AutoNation owned. Now, however—especially with my latest meltdown of my S580 (see my new thread “My piece of SHI……”) I will be happy with nothing less than an MBUSA buyback.

Sigh, hopefully something works in your favour soon.

Someone should send the review to MBUSA.

Actually we should all contact MBUSA and let them know.

Plan to own 2024 S580. This review is really helpful. Question: Can this ambient RGB lighting be turned off permanently (without touching hardware)? dont want to see it at all even for short time. If somebody here knows, let me know if it possible

Of all the things I could and have complained about in the S580, the Ambient Lighting isn’t one of them. I thought it was very nicely done.

Honest review W223 - after owning W221 W222 and W223

Ambient lights:
They are beautiful. However - they truly do serve a purpose. When I find myself driving long hours at night, changing the ambient colors in the car every hour or so - refreshes my enrgy and I get more "oomph" to carry on driving. Light has a vast effect on the mind...so it is not just for beauty. (IMHO)

NOT a Lemon:
While I did purchase a W223 Lemon 14 months ago...Park Place Fort Worth (one of the best caring dealerships around - Parkplace in general are great) that vehicle was replaced by a new one - and I have grown very much attached to the W223. It is hands down, the best vehicle I have driven to date (and I am not young 1962)
Handling, fuel condumption on highway, seat comfort, technology, reliability, safety... best in class.

At present, I am looking for an SUV, that I can take on gravel trails and mild off road. I kid you not ... but I spend a month test driving so many options....
GX550, F150, Expedition, Yukon, Navigator, Suburban, Ram, Pilot, Telluride, Palisade......and more.

The issue is that after driving the W223 - EVERY VEHICLE feels like S#$T !!
The bar is simply set too high and you keep comparing to.....and are never satisfied. It is seating comfort on long drives, softness (lack of) of the ride, technology....
The only new vehicle option that worked is the GLS580 with e-active Body Roll.

Good news is that I will be selling my S580 2023 (28,000 highway miles) or trading it in.

If someone is seriously interested - the vehicle is fully FULLY loaded and had an MSRP of $141,455.00
Vehicle wil also come with an actual aftermarket Spare, new tires on the vehicle ( CONTI DWS6) and another set of the original tires that came with the car - brand new in plastic.

I am asking $93,500 for private party and prolly end up getting $87,500 as trade in (but it will reduce my taxes by about 5,500)

Car is in TEXAS DFW area.

You can ping me 740 312 1962

Cheers S.

I put 19 inch wheels (super soft ride) and roof rack

It can absolutely be turned off, it can be set to white, it can be turned down very dim. Totally customizable. I love the ambient lighting though, to me its one of the most impressive parts of the car.

I will also tell you that I am 45 days into m,y 2024 S580 ownership and the car is great.

I really feel like the 23s and 24s have a lot of the issues solved.

new tires on the vehicle ( CONTI DWS6)
How did you manage that? Did you go to a square setup?

To confirm - the light may be turned off completely and it will not appear during a vehicle start/stop, shifting to another driving mode, etc. correct?

If someone you know, riding in the passenger seat, likes the ambient lights, you've got a choice to make: Personally, I went with seeing her naked again and ambient lights on.
