2023 RR or 22 S580

Considering both of these cars as a replacement for my W222...
I really appreciate the attention to detail and the focus on luxury over tech on the new RR... feels like MB is losing focus on luxury for tech.
What do you all think about the new Range Rover?

Funny that nobody has complained yet about the true Tesla-like screen on the RR

The RR screen is just sitting in the middle of the dash with absolutely nothing attached to it. I don’t dislike it but at least the s-class screen flows into the center console.

Like I said in the other thread, what I like a lot more about the RR interior over the W223 is the way the gauge screen is integrated vs just stuck on top. I would prefer the center screen be better integrated on both vehicles, but thats not a potential deal breaker for me like the gauge screen is.

As to which one should you buy...well we haven't seen any reviews of the new RR yet nor certainly has anybody here driven one. Comparing the old RR to the W222 which I did very extensively, the RR has a lot of the great ride and quietness of the W222. Its actually amazing how little wind noise they have for how square and upright they are. Assuming the new RR is even better riding, more refined and quieter...its a great alternative.

Do you want or need an SUV? I would like to have an SUV for a lot of reasons I just don't want to give up the ride and refinement of a big sedan.

I'm a big fan of the refresh, it looks very good and sleek, while retaining the classic RR look. I also would love to try out their new Inline-6's, as they are very similar to the setup used on the M256 in the AMG 53 cars with both using a 48-Volt Mild-Hybrid System and Electric Supercharger (likely outsourced by the same brand). An interesting choice with the switch to a BMW sourced 4.4L V8 (not the best long-term reliability), but I assume the old SCV8 no longer passed emissions testing in Europe. Overall I am very excited to see reviews and more videos, and would definitely take a look at the future RR Sport if it has similar upgrades and looks to the new full-size RR.

It looks stunning, I will seriously consider it. It's interesting that they are using BMW's TT V8...

The ultimate land yacht, it's a winner. Shy of the tesla screen they nailed it. Exterior is evolutionary but remains true to historic RR lines. Modern, tasteful, and classic. Interior is simple and elegant. Well integrated vents, manual switch gear for HVAC controls, and integrated instrument cluster. The tech isn't smashing you in the face, start it up, turn on the A/C and go, don't need to go through menus and layers.

Also, not to be overlooked is its off-road capability is top tier in the world and on-road presence likely tremendous. Will do well I'm sure.

in any case, put your name down for the rr. I’m on the 2nd batch of deliveries.

these two serve different purposes for me. Im using the s580 for general business use. The range atb, I’ll using as a family hauler now that they have the 3rd row.

I placed an order for the RR. I had a chance to buy an in stock S580 that had good specs and I liked it, but just didn't pull the trigger. I'll bet there's already quite a waiting list on the new RR. My salesman told me I was his first order and he got 7 more orders after me on the same day.

Not really a big fan of the BMW V8.. given the past with Range Rovers and BMW V8s I'm not really interested in being victim to that experience. I read in EU there is a 510 HP plug-in hybrid using a 3.0 i6 and an electric battery, hope we get that in the US then that might be the route I go.

I have had a few BMW TT V8s and they make a crap ton of effortless power but the reliability was not good. If something goes bad once, you know it will be an annual thing...

Not surprised. Will this take some demand pressure off the G?

With BMW, Mclaren and some other brands the flowing screen is for the higher end models and the standalone in middle of dash is reserved for lower models, it's the one thing I really don't like about the Range Rover

Just put in my order for 2022 (but we have the order held till about May 2022 so that we get it around April 2023) Autobiography LWB.

Going to buy out my 760Li at lease end and give it to my father and I'll get the RR.

British Racing Green over their version of Saddle with all the bells and whistles.

Don't remember when I've been this excited about an incoming car - even more so than my Porsche from 2017.

They did a great job! I don't mind the floating middle screen - It doesn't look "cheap" like Tesla's.

Thanks! I was going back and forth with the wood options but you can only get a partial wood steering wheel if you opt for the piano black wood. Wood in my steering wheel is a must have for me so that's the way I went.

I tend to like more brown burl walnut finishes but the way it looks in the pictures is pretty cool. Might have liked a carbon fiber look if they offered it (but it would also have to be on the steering wheel).

Long long wait now. April May 2023.

The new RR is really great, love the exterior styling. Interesting that the steering wheel is all around wood and leather like the new S...guess it's the going trend.

Also, I don't think you can order a base Long wheel base unless its the three-row version; otherwise you have to opt for the high end Autobiography. i'd prefer to get a LWB without the third row, unless it doesn't really remove from trunk space if it fold downs deep enough.

Beautiful vehicle. Can see why you are excited. It is luxurious in an old school way. Really like it.
