6 Dots Error Message

I get a message to change steering wheel/seat position until 6 dots are visible in upper edge of screen. I can’t see 6 dots anywhere, where are these invisible 6 dots located?

The 6 dot message will appear if you have the 3D gauge cluster. Essentially it is saying that something is blocking the camera from seeing you, and this is what is needed to enable the 3D view on the cluster. The 6 dots appear and light up in green towards the top on the inside edges of the two circular gauges.

If you look at some videos of the 3D display, you can see IR cameras at the top of the screen. Those cameras need to see your eyes. I did not find any illustration from the manual, it just says: "Change the steering wheel and seat position until six dots are visible on the top edge of the screen". I'd assume the dots should appear at the top centre of the screen. If you cannot find any, try to adjust you seat or steering wheel so that you can easily see the top of the instrument cluster.

EDIT: I was slow, already explained.

I am looking on the various instrument clusters. I do not see any green dots on any of them, but I do have trouble seeing green and red. Can someone post a screenshot of where these dots are?

From my memory, I believe they appear on the inside edge of the circular gauges (if in a classic style mode) as outlined by the red scribbles I made on this image. They appear in green and white and will emphasize one dot at a time in an animation when the notification is displayed on the gauge cluster. If you move the wheel and or whatever is blocking the camera from reading your face, they then should go away along with the notification.

Enough of a reason to rid yourself of the car, as I did. Absolutely stupid to sit in a position which satisfies the manufacturer. I’m a democrat, but I still dislike being regulated. Sadly, it’s the theme of these cars.

Pls do not bash me. I suffered enough with my S580.

Was that a planned photo? Shouldn't it have 223.0 and 2021 instead of 2020, I assume it is a MY21 223?

I'm not sure but I thought the cameras would not need to see the driver's eyes if certain features are deactivated? Your free choice then.

Correct. 3D can easily be deactivated by turning it off in the top left section of the screen, as can the eye detection hardware/software. Completely free choice, 3D technology simply requires eye tracking software for it to work in this application.

Just a random stock photo I found on the internet, just used it as I could easily edit it to show where the dots appear.

If you get the warning, it means the 3D function isn't working because it can't read your eyes. If you turn off the warning, the 3D wouldn't work in those situations anyways so may as well just turn it off.

So if you turn off 3D that the car's attention assist won't care if it sees your eyes? I would gladly turn it off if it allowed me to position my hands wherever I want. On long drives I sometimes put my hand on top of the wheel just for change for awhile. I don't even think about it until I get the message on the screen. I think the 3D and attention assist both look at your eyes but I thought they were independent. I'll have to check it out and see.
