Duct tape.

But seriously, if it is an isolated thing the door(s) may need a latch adjustment, or maybe one of the weatherstrips is out of place; may warrant a service visit.

Otherwise, the W223 is pretty quiet re wind noise.

That shouldn't happen on an S-Class. Since you have an S-Class I guess the best thing to do is go back to the dealership, it should be close to whisper quiet in an S-Class and you shouldn't expect less, hopefully the dealership will make it right for you.

In fact, this should not happen even in a C-Class sedan, not to mention an S-Class. Relatively speaking, an A-class is not as quiet as an S-class for sure. But on an absolute scale, even an A-class should not exhibit wind noise.
OP describes the noise is from the front windows. So, the rear windows are OK and it is just the front. Definitely have the dealer to inspect.

Quite often the quick fix is to close windows. Sometimes power windows need to be calibrated to fully close. Of course this case could be different but it would be useful to mention what has been checked already on an opening post

So, I find my W222 is more susceptible to wind noise than my LS460s were. It has been gone over by the dealer and some seals have been replaced, and I myself have painstakingly examined all the door and window seals and everything appears to be proper.

On a calm day, its super quiet...but with a crosswind there is a wind noise that was not present in the Lexus.

I think the S Class is much better damped from road noise than the Lexus, and the difference is absent that you can hear normal wind movement around the shape of the vehicle more distinctly. dB readings at speed in my S560 and my LS460L are identical.

What vehicle did you drive before the S580?

Then in that case you should definitely have it looked at by the dealer, something is out of sorts.

Short of spending a few bucks to get a sound level meter, a smart phone (with an sound meter app installed) might be useful to detect and pinpoint the location of the wind noise entering into the cabin. Observe how the db level changes when the phone is moved along the perimeter of a window. This should be better than judging by your ear alone.

Unhappy

Hello, any response?

I bought this car S350d 4Matic (W223 2021) last year and while I drive more than 120km/h the acoustic wind noise is extremely loud and terrible at drivers and front passenger seat (single windows) .

I do not know what to do :-(

Request shop foreman or lead tech ride along to witness your concern suggesting, as a first step, guide rail to both front doors be replaced. Depending on where noise is heard this thread may also be of interest: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ind-noise.html

Ok, from my experience with v\w223s I test drove and I believe one of them is a loaner test car directly from Mercedes is that there is significant wind noise in them. The problem we are facing is that noise is subjective and to complain to a business entity is a losing battle to begin with. Then you have fanatics here that will tell you how quiet it is and there’s biases that they will deny. I hope there’s really something wrong with your car if it really bothers you and your dealer fixes it. I will be picking up mine straight from the factory and I‘m preparing to lower further down my expectation with this car.

People who disagree with you don't automatically become mindless fanatics because you think you're right. You shouldn't forget that it may turn out the fanatic is looking back at you in the mirror.

In any event, I drove a number of these during my test drives while shopping, although I only got two up to the speeds people are talking about here. Those two and the car that was eventually delivered were/are all what any reasonable person I know would describe as quiet at any speed. It is the quietest car I've ever owned.

Several reviews stated this was quietest car they've ever measured in their instrumented testing and this does not surprise me; it jibes with what I experience in the car.

Knowing these things leads me to believe something is broken/wrong. People posting here, by and large, are not fanboys. Most are critical of at least some aspects of this car, some are very critical.

I had a new car I took in for two complaints; wind noise located around the mirror on the driver's side and misaligned trim at the back of the driver side door and front of passenger door. They couldn't do anything about the trim without a rep looking at it so I made an appointment for a time he would be in the area.

I brought it in and the shop guys took the car for a spin while we waited for the late arriving rep and they said the wind noise was normal. The rep arrived and said the trim was within spec. I asked him to get in the car and look at it in the side mirror and then tell me if he would want to see that misalignment every single time he looked in the mirror. He agreed he would not and authorized the repair.

Where it gets interesting is when I picked up the car: The service advisor told me they replaced the trim and changed the door alignment and it sure enough looked good. What was better was that when I got out on the road the wind noise was gone too; it had been caused by the trim and/or door alignment.

Takeaways: The shop guys may not know what is normal. You have to advocate for yourself. I would get a meter and take measurements in my car. I would drive another and take measurements in that car. This will tell you if your car is normal or not and it will give you something to work with at the dealer. You'll need to go the same speed over the same road and measure in the same locations in the car. I'd measure at the front of the front door by the mirror and top back of the rear doors. Use C weighting.

Noise complaints always come down to Vulcan hearing, The Princess and the Pea syndrome, or something is wrong. It isn't all that hard to figure out which of these apply.

I just watched a review on YouTube where they compared the W223 to a Panamera, and that included a high speed Autobahn run, the difference in wind noise at 130+ MPH was clearly audible in the review. The reviewer who has driven basically every vehicle on the Autobbahn commented repeatedly about how quiet the car is. If you have objectionable wind noise, something is wrong...

Lots of tire noise in the Panamera; everything else is a smidgen louder too and you notice. With any luck these gents will get it figured out; unless it's Vulcan hearing...
