Nice to hear about your successful outcome. I have the 21-in rims and one week after I bought the car the rim all of a sudden went with the sidewall shredded. Next about a month later, one of the rear wheels had a big bubble in the sidewall on had to be replaced.
I will also complain to Mercedes customer service like you did. However, did you ever take your car to a Mercedes dealership to document the problem? Please let me know. Thanks

I did not even pursue a formal Lemon Law claim. MB simply made the offer on their own after I complained about the nightmare scenario with all of my blown tires and bent rims. I got a letter in the mail about two weeks later advising who the 3rd party pickup person was and I returned the car to the dealer, meeting him two weeks later. I exchanged the car for a $50,000 +/- check and that was it. Super easy. I do not know if me being in California made any difference. I was surprised at how streamlined the process was. Interesting - both reps I spoke to seemed well-aware of the post-2021 model year 21-inch wheel S Class problem. After 5 S classes in a row, with an S63 thrown in there too as well as 3 E classes, sad in a way to end my Mercedes run. My 2024 760i XDrive is on a ship sailing to California from Germany right now.
Please submit a complaint to NHTSA for the tires. Me and another gentleman have done so, hoping to trigger an investigation and a forced recall of these tires. If that doesn’t happen, I hope we can band together and file a lawsuit against MB and Pirelli. I would love to be able to compel them to turn over data from all dealers documenting catastrophic failures in these tires. I am convinced the numbers are staggering. And yet they flat out refused to accept responsibility.
Finally fixed it - sold my 21inch wheels and replaced with MB 19s - ride, NVH, transformed - everyone should ditch the 21s!
Odesskiy - i also have 21 inch rims and have suffered blow outs and bubbles just by driving straight . Is this case on . I'd like to get involved . The car is not safe and now I am scared to drive it.

Just change to 19s - my car now drives like a dream - no bubbles and ride is 70% better

I also had four blowouts of the 21 inch tires on the s580 because these tires we're not build strong enough to carry the width of a 6,200 lb vehicle. They don't even provide you with a spare tire or a run-flat tire when you're spending almost 150k on a car!. Major disappointment. The tires went out on me four times and I got abandoned each time. Again, no spare tire and no run flat tires. I had to have the car towed each time.
I ended up dumping the s-class this week getting a CLE 53 AMG. Completely different car, but hey it works and I could actually drive it in peace to vegas, San francisco, San diego, etc. it was too paranoid and had a lot of anxiety to drive that s580 anywhere farther than 20 mi from my house. Terrible feeling.

Would you mind clarifying your exact situation? The wheels on my S class blew out four times, I need a 2023 s580 with a 21 inch wheels.. did you report it each time to Mercedes and did you take it to a Mercedes dealership each time? Did you simply call Mercedes and were transferred to another department? Or did they open a case for you first? What was the name of the other department
I would really appreciate it if you could provide me some additional clarification on this.
brother thank you for this write up any feedback on how the tires are holding up ?
20K miles and no issues to date - I've hit some pretty frightening potholes on the LA freeways that had me sweating immediately afterwards. However, nothing! MB stopped offering the 21" option on the '26 500/580... I'm guessing based on the negative feedback. However, they are still available on the S63. Not sure why they wouldn't simply offer the beefier tire instead. Seems to be the fix!

Thanks for the update.
I too, have installed those tires (S63 AMG OE tires) on my aftermarket 21" wheels.
I hope they last without major issues.
I guess it was easier for MB to simply discontinue the 21" wheel options (they were removed since MY25 btw) than sourcing the beefier tires options for the regular S-class.
The MP4S option for the S63 is significantly noisier than the stock touring tires on the S-class and thus not a great replacement.
Please correct me but I'm guessing the stock 21" tires on the pre-'25 were comparable to other tires (20", 19") in terms of road noise?
Yes - They were quieter, I surmise, due to having the PNCS technology incorporated. Could easily adopt that tech in the MPs, but I really don't notice a lot of tire slap at all.

Are you saying you have 20-in rims and tires? That's a big difference from 21-in rims and tires. I had six tire blowouts on a s580 with the sports package and 21-in rims and tires. It makes a huge difference. From what I read, solution was to use Michelin tires instead of pirelli tires. Mercedes denied any issues with the 21-in rims and tires, but I argued with them to the death and got a credit towards my next vehicle.
This car would probably be much better with 20-in rims and tires. I was scared to drive more than 20 mi from my house. Enjoy it.

You must have the Michelin tires. The pirelli tires are terrible and kept going out. It was i
Mercedes worst cup secret and all the dealerships know about it.

Changing 21 to 20 inch Wheels
I am looking at a CPO 2023 S 580 with all the options I want and exact color combination I like, except it has 21 inch Wheels. Sports AMG line with staggered 21" wheels. Dealer not able to change the wheels and has to sell as is. I would like to change to OEM 20" rims after purchase as soon as practical. What is the best source. Any advise or links would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

I bought my AMG 19” forged wheels from them. Great folks to do business with.

Do you like the look of the 21s? We have a member who bought the same design in a 19" OEM replica. They also make them in 20:

Hello Gang, I haven't been here for awhile, but wanted to share the Mod on my new Tire set-up !
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S
255/40-ZR21 Fronts
285/35-ZR21 Rears
i like the 21s on s63 spec tires... fills the wells very nicely.
however, being in the northeast requires all season tires, and this spec not offered in anything other than summer performance😭
