The New 7-Series is Here to Battle the S-Class - If You Can Get Past the Front End!
If that one on the floor didnt have the 21s, and had a different trim than the dark open pore trim it would be a great spec for me.
As to the stereo I thought the default stereo was maybe the best I've encountered for a default. The 4D is excellent though; enough to somewhat help you forget the pain of checking that box.
Probably should have said that I like the gold. Never saw it in person though and it's something I'd have to see in the metal before committing.
Wheels would be a dealbreaker for me: Went down that road and then swore I'd never do it again which pretty much guaranteed I would. And did... *facepalm*
This relates to the 7 series because, damn, have you seen that shnozz?

And yes, that schnoz!
I don't love music enough to pop for the 4D, and the issue is you have to get Warmth and Comfort, power rear seats AND exclusive nappa to get the 4D on the 223, so thats basically a $15,000 increase in price if you just want the 4D. Just not worth it at all to me. I would love an optional audio for $3K that is better than the base Burmester but not as all out as the 4D...and I just described the B&W in the G12 7 Series, or the ML in the Lexus.
For what it cost I thought the B&W was a worthwhile update.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The 4D on the other hand is a tougher sale; they've managed to outdo Porsche in pricing against a stock stereo here which is probably the best default I've encountered.
Compare that to Porsche where the default is a steaming pile of dung, the upgrade is a Bose which is not as good as the base here, then the Bermy. The latter is very good and usually 5kish over there. They knick you 2k or so for the Bose but it's lifeless other than a one-notey flatulence; and again, not as good as the stock stereo.
Stepping up to the Bermy makes more sense with Porsche considering how craptastic the other options are and the lower entry fee. I had to think about it with this car but ultimately it came down to being older than dirt; money I don't spend today may be money my kids spend tomorrow.
Not specifically mentioned and I'm in no way trying to somehow connect this post to the thread, but... That shnozz, OMG!

To further our discussion on the 7 series, here are several pictures of my new 7, fully loaded, showing both the interior and exterior, as well as some of the latest tech in the car. I will also give you my thoughts between the new 7 and the numerous S classes I have had over the past almost 40 years. I am sure what I say about this car may not be popular opinion, but it is only my opinion, and others may disagree.

You might think it is ugly, and that is fine, but that doesn't make it ugly.

We ordered the EQS580 but I was just not feeling the S580 so I just went on the internet and looked at the 7 and ordered it 30 minutes later over the phone. If were were only picking one car and it was electric, I would surely order the i7 over the EQS, but then what to do about the large sedan ICE. That is why it turned out as it did.

The drop down rear screen is a “wow” feature, but since we rarely have anyone in the rear seats, I would not want it.
Really looking forward to Lovin’s critique of the way the car drives & operates.

Working on my thoughts about the driving and operation of the car.
