The new 760 interior is amazing. The crystal LED lights on the dash are brilliant. I am sorry but it is light years above the new S Class. I was shocked how much I liked it. Don't go by pictures go sit in one.

Exterior is not my cup of tea but it isn't is bad in person and color make a huge difference in how the grille looks. LOL the salesman pointed out that it lights up as if it was a selling point.

It is a big imposing car like a Rolls which I guess is wha they wanted. Actually looks better with teh smaller wheels.

Pricing is not bad and there seams to be plenty with no ridiculous mark ups. Going back for test drive to see how it compares.

We have had multiple generations of S-Class and never had a BMW before but the new i7 will be my first BMW and first 7-series and I'm very excited about it. We are switching to all EVs in our household, the new S-Class obviously isn't one and the EQS sedan and SUV aren't the electric S-Class/electric GLS Mercedes wants you to think they are. This time around, BMW seems to be really stepping it up and Mercedes seems to be dropping the ball. I will probably be back when Mercedes releases the next generation true electric S-Class.

Maybe it was a particularly low spec one (base interior) but I sat in a 760 this weekend and was a little disappointed. The leather to me felt worse then the last gen car, especially on the dash, and not as nice as an exclusive nappa S Class. I don’t like the push button door openers and the haptic buttons have absolutely no feedback, unlike the MB which gives a little. Maybe it was because the battery was dead. It also meant the auto doors weren’t working. Maybe the dead battery is what soured my experience so much. But I definitely felt more comfortable in the last S Class I tried.

Side note, I had previously sat in a beautiful iX with the wool interior and crystals (gaudy but felt nice to the touch) and was completely wowed, but this time they had a very basic iX in the showroom with lots of plastic and cheap window buttons and sensatac (the old rubbery kind not the new lovely senseafin in the X5) and it was so cheap feel in. Then it locked me in the back seat and I had to contort myself over the center console to get out the front. Really frustrating.

I would buy this for sure over an EQS...

I don't think Mercedes is dropping the ball, they are just taking a different approach to EVs. The EQS is ugly, but its a very good performing EV with much better range than the i7.

I have to laugh as u sat in a car with a base interior which might not even be leather and compared it to teh best MB has and then judged how buttons worked on a car with a dead battery?

Hey its all subjective and why there are 2 brands. Both great cars and S is better looking but the 7 interior is no slouch.

You are correct that each has their own taste, but this year is going to be different. Better pictures coming when I pick her up tomorrow, but here is a taste.

So, LovinMercedes how about a followup commentary on your new 7? Most interested in your thoughts and comparisons between it and the 223. Thanks.

Well, I have been thinking about this for quite some time and whether to write my feelings about this topic. I have been a long time S class driver, getting them just about every two years, for almost 40 years. I still remember the day I bought my very first Mercedes, at the ripe old age of 32. I certainly could not really afford that kind of car, but it was my dream car, and I sacrificed other things to make it happen. Nobody can question my love and loyalty to Mercedes Benz.

All that being said, this new 7 series which I got, with every option, is by far the best luxury sedan I have ever owned, by a long shot. That is the summary.

The fact is, I am packing now to go out of town for several days, and my flight is tomorrow at 6:30AM, so I don't really have the time to do this post now. I also want to take some time to get some good pictures to post. I did however, since you asked, at least wanted to get you an idea of how I felt.

I should be back toward the end of the week and hopefully post something at that time.

Quite the endorsement. I can’t wait to order the new 7 myself.

Can’t wait to hear the full review, especially after several plus months of ownership. Right now you are in the Honeymoon phase, especially with how well specced your new toy is!

I have been debating the new 7 since I saw it two weeks ago. They must not be selling too well as the dealer has the exact three cars still in stock 2 weeks later where the S was sold out with mark ups when first released.

It is an ugly car that looks like a RR Ghost thats been distorted.

One good thing is they are heavily discounting remaining 760's and Alpina's which is what I am going with. I don't need all that tech in a car and those doors don't work as well as they should and I just want to get in my car not play around.

Now several pages on this thread. BMW got us all talking about it, and some bought it. Time will tell. What I think is poignant is that (some) long-term S-class buyers think the 223 is "meh." In my mind the 7 series has always played second fiddle to the S-class. It's always been a great car, but this is a MB fan site. Maybe BMW built just as good of a mouse trap this time, ignoring the front

Every time a new 7 series comes out there is a long thread with discussions back and forth, this is nothing new.

There is also reality in being with a brand for so long that you get to a point where you want something new. My W222 is my first S Class, and I don't find the W223 "meh", there are design things about it I don't care for, but if I were to pick any of these sedans and money was no object I would pick the W223 every time. For people that have had 5 or 6+ S Classes, maybe thats not the case but it still does it for me.

I had 7 Lexuses including 4 LSs, I was ready for something different.

Not happening here. My relationship with the S-Class started with the W116 in the early 80's.
Now, 7th generation W223 still excites me, even though it is not the only car that brings up excitement.

Different strokes for different folks for sure. I have owned both. The BMW always excites me and makes me feel young. The S Class makes me feel old.

Nope, that one didn't! It was a fairly low spec $131k MSRP, warmth and comfort light, 21s and that was about it. I really like selenite on it though and I didnt care for it on the 222.
