Android Auto - Google maps

in my other car I'm a big Android Auto user, in particular Google maps for nav.

before getting the S, was wondering how integrated it would be to the rest of the mbux system beyond the primary center screen.

for those who are adamant Android users, I'm happy to report that the map is fully integrated into the HUD as well as the driver's screen (turn by turn only)
but the AR blue arrows are definitely not. and the driver screen does not show the actual Google map, only graphic street/arrows for turn-by-turn.

that said, the AR HUD was a big draw for me in spec'ng my model. i use the nav even when i know where to go... just so i can experience the blue arrows on the HUD... it's simply amazing everytime i use is.
so much so, this once Google maps user has moved on to 100% mbux nav!

i only wish mbux would (especially the voice function) would sync to my Amazon music, so that i don't have to go thru AA.
unless someone here has figured that out?

Hi, is this in your new S class or “your other car?” If it’s for your W223, you can get the google map on the HUD AND driver’s screen?? If so, how? I only get the google map via Apple CarPlay on center console screen.

no, no...u don't get the actual google map, but the turn-by-turn arrows (not the AR blue arrows) as part of the standard HUD display items is integrated to the AA google maps.
see sample image...this is not mine, it's from a youtube review for EU model. the nav graphic circled in RED...that's integrated to AA google map. however, i noticed that the destination ETA (circled in BLUE) is not integrated...it only shows hashes. so i guess the integration is fairly limited...but still helpful/useful for me.

What you have circled in red is also part of the MBUX navigation, not Android google maps. So I’m not sure what your issue is?

i have no issue...i was merely stating that AA maps is great and integrated into mbux.

and the red circle is indeed mbux on the HUD. but the info it shows is integrated to AA maps if u r using nav thru it. it's not the mbux map data.... not unless ur navigating with the mbux map.
in short, that turn by turn graphic integrates into whatever nav app ur using - mbux, AA and i assume car play (altho that last one i cannot verify as i don't have to iOS)

What do you mean by “integrated to AA maps?” Do you mean it shows up on your android smartphone? If that’s what you mean, why would you need it since you shouldn’t be using your smartphone while driving nor is there a need for it if the MBUX Nav is sufficient?
But if your saying that some nav data from your android device is appearing on the MBUX HUD, I don’t see that in your pix.

yes, this is what i am saying.
if/when i am using AA map for my nav (instead of the stock mbux nav) then the turn by turn data is integrated into the the center screen and the HUD.

the red circle is showing where that data from AA is integrated and visualized.
and as i had stated earlier in the thread, the image I'm showing is not mine.... merely an example to describe where said turn by turn from AA data shows up.

clear?

Sorry for harping on this, you state “the red circle is showing where that data from AA is integrated and visualized.” I don’t think that’s true. What you have circled in red is part of the stock mbux nav. I don’t have any android devices and still see that on the AR HUD.

LOL...no worries.
u are correct...the GUI is stock MBUX software. i wasn't saying that it wasn't.
however, that same GUI functions (with the AA gmap data) if/when the car's navigation is using AA gmap, instead of mbux stock nav map.
------
just got back from dinner, used AA gmap so i could snapshot the HUD and driver screen using the gmap data.
u can see in the HUD the turn by turn graphic on the left, the distance meter until next turn, but not the ETA (just hashes next to the checker flag icon)... that last data point for some reason is not integrated to the mbux GUI .
