I do agree with you about the W220. I owned one of those (S430) and although it was a nice car, it was more Chrysler than Mercedes. In my opinion, the W223 has that feel and experience that an S class should have. It sounds like you are basing your opinion solely on the appearance, and that's not a fair assessment. Go drive one, and then come back and let us know if your opinion is still the same.

I thought the W220 was a great looking car...quality is another issue...
The W223 has grown on me a lot, I love the look from the outside and the interior has grown on me a lot, although there are still elements I don't like. If I can negotiate a deal in the same realm as my W222 when the time comes, I would upgrade to a W223.

My family has had a W140. W220, W221. I had a W223. They all made me feel special driving or just riding in them. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's a bad car. It's just not for everybody.

While there are some issues of which to criticize the W223 the looks are NOT one of them. It is a damn good looking sedan. If it was polarizing, I could understand it if some disliked it. It is not. It carries on the traditional look of the S Class handsomely. Imo.
