Before mag doors made it into a car in my garage it seemed like a useful but underwhelming feature to me; once I'd had them I very much miss them every time I get in and out of this car.

Pop out door handles on the other hand are not something I miss when I get into a different car. Mine have been flawless and it's actually kind of cool that they pop out when you walk up. Rather than use the swiping motions others describe which works poorly for me when the handle is in I figured out in the first couple days you can just gently push in on the center of the handle and it pops right out every time. No problems at all with them. It's just that auto popping handles isn't something that changes my day for the better and so of course I don't miss them when they're not there getting into other cars.

Cool for the sake of cool is all right with me but I'd rather have cool and useful like the mag doors.
Well said.

My door handles seem to be working better than when I first got the car, but they still hiccup every now and then. I cannot imagine how anyone thinking clearly can conclude anything other than MB went with them, because Tesla did, which to my way of thinking is just ridiculous. They replaced a perfect, very simple door handle with another “system” that requires electric motors & software to function. These will be yet another service issue as these cars age and I can’t imagine what repair costs will be when the car is out of warranty. The bottom line for me, is that the handles are not an improvement over the W222 handles, can be problematic at times and have not added to my enjoyment of the car.

The haptic buttons on the steering wheel are another example of this. Worse in every way except "looking cool"

Mercedes has engineered a lot of cool stuff over the years, while silly at least it was functional. One of my favorites is the metal thing that used to pop out over the license plate to close the trunk. That kind of stuff I like...but we dont get that anymore we get silly techy stuff.

2 times but it’s kinda different than you think. One time the door handles tied to eat me but I was fast enough to get my hand out of there. and one time I acciadentally got my hand stuck in the rear electric doors. So painful..

Just wait until some child gets their hand mutilated. I hope it never happens, but if it does, I hope the parents sue the pants off MB.
