voice activation

I know this is controversial. I got it. But, on a recent 1800 mile trip there were many times that I wish I had voice activation. On interstate with or without dense traffic it's extremely dangerous to be searching for buttons/switches to change temperature, activate massage, change radio, or even change footwell flow from cool to heat. Reluctantly, LOL, I now understand and agree with Wolfman who posted that (voice) is the future. Now, I suspect a diatribe will follow.

It sounds like your sales associate should have demonstrated the "Hey Mercedes" feature to you at the time of delivery. Quite a few of those commands can be made by voice in the new MBUX infotainment system.

Hey Mercedes does plenty for me when I am using it. If you long press the voice button you can activate siri or google commands.. Your salesperson or tech rep should of shown you everything. Hope it goes well.

Were there any cars that lost voice due to chip shortages? When I read his post that was my assumption; if he just needs to enable it though that's a win.

MY 18 S450V RWD Diamond White
I had voice activation on my 2014 E 350. The system worked well. Not as many command’s available as my S 450. 😎

I'm sure OP has voice activation, also for cabin temperature settings. Cannot be missing because of chip shortage, VC is part of MBUX and the sceen would be lost, not only VC.

I use my voice activation more and more. Ive had my S580 coming up to 8 months now and initially thought "Hey Mercedes" was just a gimmick. I now often use it for everything from closing the overhead blinds, turning up the volume, massage, navigation etc etc...

I would not buy a car without such a system. Truly the future!!

Voice is the way to go for anything more than a couple touchscreen clicks away. I think the disagreement comes in when you're talking about something like sound volume; it's hard to beat a good old fashioned knob in some cases. My guess would be a significant reduction in complaints about the control scheme would follow if they included just a few basic functions as a physical button: Volume, temp up/down, etc.

Hey Mercedes can do all of that for you pretty much. In addition, you can always use the touchpad on the right side of the steering wheel to control the infotainment.
