S680 length worries me

Hello,

I discovered with immense pleasure that there is now a V12 that is also 4 wheel drive, 4WD was indeed limited to the V8 engine for the W222.
However, for this you have to take the Maybach version (S680) which is about 20 cm longer than the S550 L version W222 that I currently have…. and that is really not very handy. On the other hand, it has the 4 wheel steering which is supposed to reduce its turning radius by 2 meters…

So, at the end of the day, is this increased length really a problem?
Do some of you owning of having tested the S680 can comment?

Thanks!

S580 MAYBACH Z223
yes. You should be worried about it. I own s580 maybach and the vehicle is impossible to turn. And if you don’t purchase the 360 camera , it would be impossible to park. The country im currently in has really bad roads so it’s also impossible for me to make an u turn or stuff like that.

Thanks, I don’t which exact version you have but the turning circles I found are: 4Matic S580 12.8m and the S680 11.5m…. so according to those numbers, the S680 would be easier to maneuver than yours?
I may be wrong since both seem to have 4 wheel steering and the S680 is much longer than the S580…

Those figures look like the S680 had 10 degree rear wheel steering and the S580 had 4.5? Odd but neither option seems standard for the Maybach (in our region at least).

Cool First World Problems?

If I owned a Maybach would have a Chauffeur (or Professional Driver as part of a Security Detail)...and I have a Commercial Driver's License! In the West Texas Oilfields sometimes had to drive in Reverse up to 2-miles off-road just using side view mirrors in a Tractor Trailer with overall lengths up to 70-feet. Did that for Cash after a 30-year Aerospace Career with a Physics Degree...

Your W223 S680, although having the same wheelbase (133"), is still 10" shorter overall than my W240 Maybach 57 (225" vs 215"). Of course, the W240 doesn't have 4-wheel steering either, but is not scary at all to drive. You simply have to adjust your references. Also, it has ultrasound front and rear parking assist (tone when you get close), so is not "impossible" to park either. It goes without saying that I never try to park it in close quarters, though.

I’m sure it depends on the size of your garage and your country.

That would be the turning circle for a regular non Maybach S Class L with no rear wheel steering vs a Maybach S Class with presumably 10 degree rear wheel steering

These figures are for a Maybach from one wiki site (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merced...Class_(W223)):
Available engines are a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 for the S 580 4MATIC and a 6.0-litre biturbo V12 for the S 680 4MATIC. Both are fitted with standard 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The rear-wheel-steering system for reducing the turning radius is optional extra cost. The turning angle can be set at 4.5° or 10°, reducing the turning radius from 13.1 metres (43 ft) to 12.2 metres (40 ft) and 11.2 metres (37 ft) respectively.

Seems difficult to find matching figures.

Turn radius depends on the rim size equally for the W/V223 as the Z223 in the sense that 10 degree steering is not available for the wider tyres.

Isn't the 580 Maybach length/wheel base the same as for the 680 Maybach? Anyway, the naming is confusing, people talk about the S580 where I understand they are referring to the W/V223?
