I can’t believe MB still isn’t offering a W223 car cover accessory! It’s been over 2 years since car came out!
What are you guys doing? Any high end 3rd party covers available?

 

No where to be found online but EPC shows indoor (?) tarp if that's what your looking for if so, check with local MB dealer parts manager.

I am going to buy one (not from Amazon but from Taobao or jd.com) and can report on the quality.
CNY is coming and is the busiest time for everyone, especially the logistics and the long holiday break. So, it might take a couple months, if you can wait that long for my comment.

 

I have ordered this cover, the silver one with reflective strips and MB logo. Material is also 'oxford cloth'.
It is about US$ 33, much cheaper than the Amazon one.
They appear to be the same or even better. Will give an evaluation when I receive it.
I think it should arrive in about a week.

I speak the language and so that is no problem for me.
If you need some translation of the description or spec of the said car cover, I can help you out.

However, if you wish to order, I strongly advise against it as you have already found out it is hard for to navigate (not to mention placing an order) around if you do not understand the language.

I see two alternatives.
You can go to Aliexpress and search there as it is basically set up for the English speaking international market.

Or, you can use an agent to order for you from jd.com. I personally have not used this method before. However, I have hung around some PC forums and notice many people use an agent to order for them from Taobao or jd.com. They usually buy computer hardware. Fully English speaking customer service will help. Of course, you will pay an agent fee for the service.

Lastly, you can wait for the restocking of the car cover at Amazon. (But it seems so expensive)

First off, my order is:-
''Oxford cloth/silver + full reflective strips + MB logo''

The external layer is some kind of silver colour polymer, which is water resistant. It is advertised as tear resistant but I dare not to try to tear it apart, but it does look and feel strong enough.

Some water was poured on the cover and the water slipped away. Water resistant seems quite OK. Similarly, snow could also be handled without problem.

Silver also has the benefit of reflecting sunlight better (thus minimize green house effect inside the car). This is why I choose this over the other 2 options (black and camouflage).

It is also advertised to resist scratching by a sharp object. And, again of course, I did not test this too. But common sense says, when a car is parked next to yours and its door is opened carelessly against your car, having the car cover definitely gives some kind of protection (better than nothing).

Internal layer is called ''oxford clothing'', which is basically some cotton-like lining. It is neither too thin nor thick. Quite acceptable. Smooth to touch and should not scratch the car paint or clear coat at all.

Regarding construction quality and workmanship, this is also acceptable. Many areas are double stitched.
When mounted onto my V223, it fits nicely. A little on the tight side rather than on the loose side. I prefer this as this minimizes wind buffeting.
To prevent the car cover being lifted off by wind, ties are provided at locations of the 4 wheels. An additional tie is also given to provide additional restraint if needed.


One drawback:- My car is RHD (as in Hong Kong China) but the car cover that I received is for LHD (as in China Mainland). So, the front side door convenient opening of the car cover is now on the front passenger side. Not a big deal since this still gives me access to the car interior, without removing the whole car cover.
But US is LHD and so this is OK for the US market.

There are 3 bundled accessories (free).
A large bag for storage (average quality).
A wire+lock for tying the car cover (underneath the car's mid section) to discourage theft (but a determined thief should have no problem to use a wire cutter to do his job).
An additional tie down strap to provide additional protection against car cover being lifted off in extreme strong wind condition.

Overall speaking, this car cover is acceptable to me. Would I call it a 'top quality' product?

If I must say, I say this is an 'above average' product rather than a top-notch one.
That is, I would not say this is a 'top quality' car cover but it is a very much acceptable one providing protection to the car from elements.

I imagine there might be other car covers for the 223 which are even better. Regarding the one linked above at Amazon, the design and appearance look very similar but the price is much higher.
Is it the same product but its price is jacked up when it makes its way to Amazon? Or, does it have better material and construction quality, thus asking for a much higher price? Dont know.

Anyway, the best part is the price.
For CNY 218 (= USD 32), the Cost-to-Performance ratio is truly unbeatable.
