Yeah, I’m starting to think that perhaps it’s time for me to go back to my original idea and that’s to get a Genesis.

Hmmm, other than being way way way cheaper, what is the benefit?

I see, apparently not X3 for some reason.

Asian vehicles tend to operate as designed. They tend to be less complicated and more user friendly, compared to their German competitors. And, with Genesis, you select the model, the trim level (usually 2 choices) and the color combination. Virtually any combination you select can usually be had within a few days, so no long, drawn out ordering process.

I find myself thinking that the facelift of the 7 Series MAY really solve some significant issues, so perhaps waiting another year is in order. So, perhaps I will sample another brand in the meantime. Just Sunday morning musings, but something to think about.

Something to think about for sure, slow day on the forums anyways, but even the flagship Genesis G90 is not an S-Class or 7 series.

If going Asian, I would personally go Mazda but again it is not an S-Class or 7 series, and um.. I guess I will throw A8 in the mix.

I understand you considered Porsche at some point but it will never be an S-Class or 7 series.

I am all for sampling different brands, but there really aren't many options, I mean other than European and Asian, there are domestic ones of course.

To be fair, the AC in the S560 is incredible. The AC in my S580 is also not as good as what was in my S560. I did have the same thoughts about the small hard to adjust vents though.

Just like phones, everything is going slimmer, can't believe even automakers are making vents slimmer.

Lately I've been getting the itch for a new phone. I've been on folders for a while now, and I'm thinking about trying out one of the Global Chinese phones, Honor V3, Vivo Xfold Pro, etc.

I can relax and think about that because it's not too hot here; and my AC is quite up to the task.

Friendly advise, don't. If you do, don't keep any personal records on it and don't talk about anything you don't want others to know. Otherwise, very good hardware, pretty bad software.

Good advice for every phone. No such thing as privacy nowadays.

For such phones, you could probably flash some sort of third party software which removes most of the adware or bloatware. A big one used to be lineage os, not following close enough to know what the newer ones are.

All my phones are rooted, it's mostly why I've stayed away from the Chinese stuff, hard to root nowadays. Between my VPN, and various ad blocking I see no ads, ever. This would continue, even without root.

That is a different thing than bad actors snooping. You can't even root a phone anymore until it's phoned home because it's impossible to enable OEM unlocking without a connection.

No phone should be considered secure, but that's really not a problem for me; the only law I break on any given day is running without a front plate. Meanwhile, my most important records are not in the digital domain, and my own personal digital space is well enough protected from anything but state level attacks, and I don't think my front plate lawlessness is going to attract that kind of effort.

No, it's not my data, in my possession, I worry about. It's the bad man cracking various corporate and .gov sites that are my weakness. Tmo has lost my data 3 times, a personal record, but then there are all the others, most of which are good for at least one. I've got a "We regret to inform you that your data my have been inadvertently lost" email in my inbox right now. It offers the usual 2 years of credit checking but I still have a year and a half on my last 2 years from the previous data loss, and I had time left over from the one before that, when that one came.

Fair enough, most phones requires unlocking the bootloader.

I've been rooting phones since the G1, and before that Palm and Windows OS were also victims of customized ROMS and so on; I've been down the road and laugh at people who think Apple came up with graphical user interfaces.

You have to enable OEM unlocking before you can unlock the bootloader; it's step 1.
