Just pulled this from the MBUSA Build for a 2023 S580. Who has the link to the 2024 DOG?
Thanks for that - I've figured it out now. The Luxury Line and Executive Line both offer the Burl Walnut, while the AMG Line does not. One guess which line I was building... :-)
The burl goes away when you go AMG line... Of course you wouldn't have been able to configure a 23 S580 just a few weeks ago; that's how late they are getting the configurator up to speed. What really stood out to me was that you can't order 3D without getting zapped for E-ABC. My 23 I was able to get with 3D but without E-ABC but I ordered this time last year and they allowed it at that time. So glad because I wouldn't buy without the HUD but didn't want the suspension and wouldn't have paid an extra 6k plus to get the HUD. It would have put my in a different car.
It's more a brown color in person, I think you said you've seen it so you know. I remember it being that way with the lockout on AMG line for 22 also, not sure if I remember it right though...
It's a bitt of an oddity to me that you can get the slate but not the burl. I mean up front it's a bit of a joke that they reserve the sporty lightweight stuff for the AMG line when it all likely weighs about the same and the car runs north of 2 tons. But outside that bit of whatever... Staiin the wood black and now it's sporty? lol
Its one of those weird, annoying package things MB decided to do with the W223. Its like Lexus, one thing I liked about MB is I could get everything with whatever I wanted.
Ahh, sorry I was referring to the US Market. Should have specified. I believe in Germany you can also get a base S450 with no acoustic glass, and I'm sure there are plenty of other markets like that. In the US and Canada, all cars have Acoustic Glass.
No worries mate, I didn't mean for it to be a correction. Merely wanted to share it as a joke. To highlight the bizzare and anti-consumer bundling policy of MB, in different parts of the world.

That's not an actual build restriction, just a miake the mbusa website made. It should never be trusted.
