New tech frustrates………
To add to that, door handles are another percolating problem.

What we have are leg biters with whiz-bang door handles that admittedly look cool but don't do anything in terms of making my life better. I suppose it's a vapid sort of win but you know a feature is foo-foo when you get in another car and you don't miss it at all, that's the door handles to me.

(++Now blind spot assistance and adaptive cruise control is a different story. I can't live without those two features.
(-)Lane departure warning is of no use to me
(+) Got to have automatic headlights, adaptive lighting focus, and automatic dimming
(-) Night vision I can do without
(+) Soft close doors are awesome
(-) Cup holders and storage spaces are not sufficient these days as electrical and computer space is eating up the storage spaces we once loved.
(+)Go back to real buttons. New touch screen dashes and infotainment systems are more distracting these days than using a cell phone while driving. Glare, smudges, Haptic Touch confusion at times. Give me back buttons.
(-) Front spoilers too low to the ground. Every curb at every parking space will ****** these off or heavily scratch them.
(+) Stereos have dramatically improved but connectivity to phones is still lacking
(+) HUD is very nice
(+) parking sensors are a must
(-) still not able to get used to automatic parking but the times I have used it, it was a success.

MB needs to do some research in the market to learn about the best features, so they can be incorporated in their flagship model.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Say what?
I buy something from them and they want money every month to use a feature that is just to turnon a program they developed since they will not let anyone else develop.
I do not see new car(s) in my future - Old USed cars maybe...
but why bother I have some nice used cars in my stable - THink I willjust keep them running as best as I Can and spend my money on vacations or a NEW BOAT!
In my mind a product planning meeting takes place where a boy-wonder proposes door handles that pop out when the driver approaches as a catchy bit of foo-foo to attract buyers in showrooms. There is applause.
Then an engineer pipes up in the back suggesting that customers might appreciate it if they improved the headlights enough to be on par with a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. Crickets. Later that day he's cleaning out his desk.
That's how I imagine it.
but the door stops in my 2022 S580 are THE worst in recent memory. The doors either open way too wide or not far enough. Then, just when you think you are all set, the door closes on your legs. They just HAD to mess with the door handles, but they couldn't give us doors that are easy to deal with. This is "Auto Manufacturing 101," that you don't mess up the basics, but MB found a need to do so.

I hate what Tesla has brought upon us with the "all on the center screen" era, the subscriptions that were then worsened by BMW and those abominations they call door handles. I was displeasantly surprised when I visited a MB shop and found out that they now have those door handles as well.
I love a dashboard with gauges (pardon my english if that isn't the proper term) for my speed and RPM, the rest can be on a screen, it's not that bad, but please, keep it directly ahead of me. I love my old one because I extend my arm and then touch a button, I know by the shape if it's the right one or I can go to another one without having to look at any moment, why is this not possible anymore?
I feel the same as Hyperion, I love my car, and I'm having a hard time deciding on a model that I would like to buy for a recent one (post 2018 I'd say).

IF I ever get another new MB, I will take delivery in person and insist on a thorough training session with someone who is very familiar with the vehicle. At one time, MB Laguna Niguel had a woman who did nothing but “teach” new vehicle customers how to operate the various features. She was great, but they did away with her position, last time I checked. These new vehicles are just SO, over the top complicated, that every MB dealer should have a dedicated employee, who REALLY knows the systems and will train new owners. I’m not holding my breath.

Times have changed.

Here's one in the attractive but out of reach catagory.
